As many of you know over the past 5 years I have been fighting a losing battle with Carpel. Well it has finally beaten me. Over the past week ive been trying to play and its just not happening. I can barely hold the guitar let alone play it.

I have tried everything short of surgery and im not about to let the docs cut me open for a procedure that isnt guaranteed to work.

So its that i give to you with great sadness my equipment for sale.

First up is a 7 string i picked up off ebay, Supposedly its custom but i cant find any signs of it short of not haiving a name on the headstock. The pickps are no name aswell, but it plays amazingly well and sounds phanominal. I have been playing it for the last 4 years and its beaten up and scarred but it works awsome.

I am asking $300 for this guitar

Next up is an OLP John Petrucci signature. This guitar has a a nice set of upgrades that i did to it. The electronics other then the neck pickup were completely redone to match the EBMM version of the same guitar. The bridge pickup in this guitars is a Dimarzio PAF Pro. The volume pots and switches have all been upgraded to Dimarzio aswell. The guitar has a 1 piece maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Dot inlays and 24 frets. The finish is a red / black burst color. The bridge is currently set up so that it does not float but when i purchase the guitars it was floating so i know that you can set it up just like the EBMM model. This guitar also has locking tuners to keep it tuned while whammying the hell out of it. This guitar comes with a Gig Case, its a foam more hardshell case with the OLP Logo not a gig bag.

I am asking $300 for this guitar aswell.

Finally for the guitars we have a Carlo Robelli Acoustic that was purchased for me by Amy. The guitar has a high sentimental value but sadly i can not play it anymore either. This is probably one of the hardest things I have ever done is having to sell this guitar

Its also a red burst color, comes with a gig bag, and I am asking $150 for it.

Now onto the gear .....

1st up is a Behringer X-Vamp. This is the floor version of the popular Vamp processor. The tones are good espiscially for demoing things. Im asking $50 for this.

Next is a small fender 10w practice amp with a boatload of gain. Its actually a squire and im asking $25 for it.

Finally is a 16 channel Behriger MX2004A mixer. Its a good mixer has some scratch pots that im sure can be replaced. I purchased it for $400 reand new and I am asking $200 for it.

Really sorry to hear about that man, it's a true shame. Never give up, try some time off and rehab...accupuncture, whatever. I really hope your hands heal up, you can definitely get through this!

As for the equipment I can't touch it, I'd feel like I'd be robbing someone of their true joy. Sad to see you parting with all of your equipment though man, try to hold on to it as long as possible even if you can't play!

I'm very sorry to hear this.
I had to deal with cubital tunnel syndrome a few years ago but was lucky to heal up pretty much completely.

From what I read I strongly advise not to sell the acoustic! Even if you can't play it at the moment, mere dollars cannot replace the sentimental value.

And DON'T GIVE UP!!!

Jason, Man, I am so very saddend to hear this.

The clips that you put out for us to hear we truely insperational. You have a gift on the guitar and it pains me greatly to heat that you cannot play anymore. Maybe you can teach, or at least help others in their quest for metal greatness.

I hope that you continue your love for music in many ways... if not by playing.

Hey Guru that really sucks bro. You are an excellent guitar player, and we have all missed your playing.

I was recently in a band with a real asshole (lol) who came down with carpal tunnel and it ended his playing career for several months. We told him he needed to quit playing because the CT was really making him suck (HA HA)

Well, he did opt for surgery, and amazingly enough, it worked. His hand and wrist is completely back to normal and he is playing like nothing ever happened.

Guru man, no surgery is ever guaranteed; and there is always risk. What do you think Smyth bro would be doing if he said 'dude, the whole kidney thing is a huge risk and its not guaranteed.... I'm not gonna do it'.

Well, we would all be without a great guitar player.

My opinion, DONT SELL A FUCKING THING AND GO GET YOUR HAND FIXED DAMMITT. Dont sell your dreams, and dont give up....or I'll come to Vegas and
kick yer ass. LOL

Yeah, Guru, I too am with Rafermadness on this one man!

Simply put, if you don't at least try, you'll never know man,and there's a risk to what you do with ANY surgery! But, the success rate I have heard is waaay to high to not take a chance on!

I too know another person, who had this surgery done as well,and 14 years later, he's still out playing, writing albums, touring, and all that, so I would say DO IT MAN!!!

Or at least reconsider your options. It is laser surgery, and maybe, if you're able, looking into options outside of where you live (LA is not that far away to do something like this, and UCLA is there, and they're tops in a lot of things, so this comes to mind as an option), you might find a second opinion that would make you change your mind.

My hopes are with you man, and I hope you reconsider.

As for the acoustic. I gave it back to her, after she heard bout everything she asked if she could have it. She told me if i ever wanted it back to just ask.

I have another appointment on Tuesday at 3;30 so as soon as i hear whats up ill let y'all know.

Ive been bombarded wit messages and emails about this saying people friends have had the operation and everything worked out, so i guess the success rate is pretty high ....

I'm with everyone who posted here Jason, I hope you reconsider this, and get your hand fixed so you can play. I want to hear more stuff from you as i digged your solos in the solo competitions and the backing track you submitted!

OK so heres the latest word .....

Doc says no guitar for 2 weeks, PC is ok but in moderation no more than an hour at a time without stretching for atleast 15.

I have to wear 2 wrist braces 24/7 for the next 2 week and see where that puts me at. Doc thinks its going to have to come to surgery. Ill know more in 2 weeks when i go back for an update.

Thats good news you went to the doc Jason. it will be a long haul but worth it in the long run. Who knows, maybe you'll be a better player when its all said and done! You need all the help you can get.

just caught this thread. everything that you're going through SUCKS, man. You're a damn good player. Don't let something like this stop you. Take Vitamin B12 before you pick up a guitar. It's what Mike used to do, as I believe he had the same thing you have. It helped him a good deal.

Don't give up so fast. BB King has had arthritis for YEARS, yet he keeps goin at it. Kelly from Atheist has hand problems, as well... sure, he may not be doing Atheist's guitar work anymore, but he's still playing.

I just came across this thread and thought I would chime in with my own experience. A while ago I had MAJOR health issues, which of course landed squarely in the realm of my voice. I developed an infection which would not go away. Not wanting to rush into any surgery I tried all the pills ( they were literally running out of antibiotics to try ). I could barely speak 4 words without running out of breath, my speaking voice dropped, forget singing. Finally it came to surgery, three to be exact. To make a long story short, It took me a long time to get well again, but I am glad I really didn't give up. I still have issues but it is 10000000 times better than it could have been.

I'm not going to say it will be easy, fun or a happy experience, but if surgery is the last option give it a try. Things may work out and I really hope they do. Keep at least some of your gear and afterwards you may feel the urge to see what happens.
