just working on this mix and this is the point where I've got the first roughmix, so as the band is cool with it I thought I'd share it with you guys cause I really value your opinion...

here you go:

Exhale

I know, there's some clipping, but I just did a "quick" master to get it loud ;)

Very cool...goddamn 5150. I want one!

Reminds me of Oz's recordings a bit but it has your trademark sound as well. Good job :rock:

what did you use for the guitars? mic technique / preamp / plugins etc? my recordings sound alright but im just not to this level yet and thats where i want to be. any info would be more than appriciated

thanks.
Snare is a blend between the original Snare (gotta ask Chaz Najjar and James, they miced/recorded the drums) and one of my samples (don't aks me which one, I just hit the "next"-button on Aptrigga until it felt right.....could probably post it though).

Amp is my 2ch Dual Recto (boosted with 808) (about 70%) and Framus Cobra (about 30%)-4 tracks in total.
into v30 speakers, miced with 1 sm57 slightly off axis (just a tad) and off center (edge of dustcap),,so similar placement to most of my recordings.
--> API 3124-->RME A/D

a

just HP and LP and a little bit of Cubase4's multiband-comp (the only one I prefer to the waves C4).

guitar was a Heritage LP with Duncan customs.

thanks.

i loaned the drum mics, subkick, and triggers to Chaz and i placed the mics on the kit, D6 on Kick, D2's on rack toms, D4 on floor tom, SCX-One's for OH's and Hat, and yamaha subkick on kick also as well as ddrum pro triggers on every piece. i didn't like the fact the drummer had Aquarian heads as they always sound too dark for my tastes, but i only loaned the mics and placed them then helped Chaz get levels before i cut out... wasn't my gig, i was just helping out a tiny bit.

Yep, thanks again for that!

LSD - How do you like your API 3124 pre for guitars? Do you have any Neve'ish pres to compare it to? I have a Portico 5012 and was thinking of picking up a A2D. Would love to hear your thoughts about the API.
