My first full-length release! In Malice's Wake - Eternal Nightfall

Thanks for all that info. One can clearly hear that you spent quite some time on that mix. Again, brilliant work.

I'd be curious to hear a little more from GH, even though I guess you said most.

Great band, great songs, great mix.. it's the package you would want to make a name for yourself, and you are doing just that.. well done!

dude! :OMG:
you did a really great job!
..and the song is really cool too! :)

If a may give you my opinion (don't take me too serious, I'm still a noob compared to almost everyone in this forum!!) I'd just prefered a little more midrange-sounding lead guitar on the end!
Just a matter of taste I guess!

I've also added you as friend with my personal & homestudio profiles!
Keep up the good work!

Miche

What Ermin said was mostly correct.

Maxon OD808>Krank Rev1>Mesa Standard (Oversized)>SM57

They were Double-tracked, Gain on around 6 (out of 10).

Nice work, really. And this applies to all the sounds I could hear on your mediafire and esnips pages. I haven't come here in a long while and your mic'ing technique has become really impressive. The palm mutes sound really good.

Thank you all for the feedback so far! I hope the band see some success with this release. Just a matter of circulating it through the right channels, hopefully.

@lasse: Well I figure since James gets away with it I may at least try

@Unicorn: I understand your criticisms, and thank you for voicing them. I'm not a big fan of the overheads either. The drum tracking for this one was less than ideal, shall we say. The pre-delay on the verb would've been set to about 13ms or so. I can't say I hear the same issue with the verb being late, but we likely have different monitoring so it figures.

@Shaun: Nice to see you sign up to UM. Here you'll find many different ways of wasting your time on a multitude of different sub forums :)

Not bad man. Got some busy times ahead with Christmas and NYE and some things in the pipeline for next year. I'll see how many of them actually work out though...

Hopefully with this album out I'll get to see you blokes live afew times next year. It's been a while now.

Hi guys, for those interested, a small update on what IMW are up to currently - extract from http://www.inmaliceswake.com <- Check out the new image sets.

October has been a mammoth month for In Malice's Wake. On the tail of the Brisbane/Gold Coast shows, IMW have played their first shows to killer crowds in Canberra and Adelaide, as well as playing a long awaited all ages show.

A small excerpt of a review by Metalheads United Australia wrote the following of the Canberra show:

"Melbourne band, In Malice's Wake played next surprising the crowd with their thrash metal yet very unique style. In Malice's Wake played a very strong set and clearly know how to interact with their audience. Their set featured songs off their debut full length album 'Eternal Nightfall' which was amazing to get the chance to hear live. This 4 piece band left a great first impression in Canberra on and off stage."

Special thanks must go out to Mousey Mike in Brisbane for organising the show, as well as to Empyrean for looking after us with gear. In Canberra, to Pete and the Templestowe crew, who both organised the killer show and sorted us out with gear also. In Adelaide, major thanks to Jason - Truth Inc. for organising the show and the guys from Imminent Psychosis for gearing us up and partying with us afterwards. Lastly, huge thanks to Tim Charles - Welkin Entertainment for facilitating and getting us onboard with these shows, and the majority of the shows this year. 2009 has well and truly been a great year for In Malice's Wake.

We are currently holed up and are well and truly in writing mode - the last few shows have seen the latest In Malice's Wake track - "The Crawling Chaos" - debuted live and there are further devastating tracks well on their way. Slowly but surely Album #2 is creeping closer...

In other news Dave is also an official endorsee of Jackson Guitars, IMW will feature on the Jackson website shortly. The Images page of the site has been updated with the East Brunswick Club photos, as well as our Canberra show at the Basement. This is the first official set to include Luke on bass also, so check it out! http://www.inmaliceswake.com/images.php

We'd like to thank everyone for the support that we have been shown this year thus far, extra thanks to those who have made the various interstate trips with us - it has been a blast.

Thats it mate, stick with it. Regardless of the how it was distro'd you've built up a decent buzz since it was released. Alot of people were impressed.
Maybe look into a ditro deal if the lables aren't interested for the next one. Having it stocked at JB can be a big help with at least getting bigger gigs/ supports.

Warm, too bloody warm... It's a furnace in here and I'm tracking guitars for the entire week. Sounds like deja vu eh Shaun?

Sad to hear that nobody has picked you guys up on the back of the record. In all fairness a lot of the songs are older material, so if it at least did the job of documenting where you were at that point in time, then it served a purpose. Perhaps with the next one, showcasing a much more mature band, you will have more luck. The trick is always in getting given the time of day. Best of luck with it all. Glad you had a blast at the interstate gigs.

Also, how weird is it that it's almost the anniversary of the release of this record? To me it's felt like a lifetime since we wrapped it up. So much has changed!

All too familiar Ermz :) You need to invest in an air conditioner for the room, haha, it'd be a drop in the ocean next to all the other gear you're sporting!

Fair cop on a good part of the album being older material, I still think the album is worthy to be supported on the strength of the tracks, but it is very refreshing to be writing new material specifically for a fresh album. We're gonna keep exploring unexplored avenues, but it's true, the trick is having someone giving it a proper listen.

It does feel like AGES ago that we wrapped the recording up...much longer than a year anyway.

And distro may be the way to go too Dan, we'll pursue that if we struggle for much longer.

Also for anyone interested in grabbing a copy of the our Eternal Nightfall album, we've dropped the price considerably due to the fact it is no longer such a new release. $15 + shipping. Check out our merch page to have a look: http://www.inmaliceswake.com/store.php. There are other price drops also.
