My JSX + Mesa Stiletto (Traditional) cab impulses!

I'm unsure whether your using a mac or a pc but if it's the latter then this may interest you. It's a deconvolver with a built in tone generator that allows you create test tones of any length. It generates tones in the form of a sweep.

Hamsterdam, glad you like 'em dude! And yeah, if you could generate a 10 second pink noise clip at 24 bit/44.1k, I'd really appreciate it! Also, I'd be interested as well in hearing why you think pink is better than white for this purpose, Hades (I wouldn't think it'd make a difference either way, since the deconvolver is just comparing the original to the processed, so the fact that pink noise is more tailored to the Fletcher-Munson curves wouldn't have any effect methinks).

And on that note, one step ahead of ya Devoured, that's what I used! (following the instructions in WildHades' guide here, really useful and helpful! Reason # 4 billion why I bought another PC :D) Thanks all the same, though! :kickass: Anyone else given 'em a try yet? As I mentioned above, my favorite is "57 edge"
 
Only got to play with them a little bit Marcus. Then I spent the last 90 minutes yelling obscenities at my TV while watching the debate. :) I'll definitely play with them some more this weekend. But so far, like you, the 57 edge is my favorite. Combining that with some new presets for Amplitube2 I got off of the guitar modeling forum, it sounds great!
 
Thanks mate. Always good to have new impulses. Unfortunately I don't have anything decent to test them with, but after I grab a new head, my custom TS, and a decent pre/converter combo I'll be doing a lot of impulse tests, be sure :)

Yes, this is true. A white noise should work the same as the pink noise or whatever... the only important thing is that the signal covers all the frequencies between 20 and 20000 Hz, that's why a distorted preamp signal would work too...
As I said, I think that the slow sweeps can generate resonance/woofy sound, and I think they're good for reverbs but not for cabs, cause you have to capture just the eq, not the room sound (although a bit of the room sound is captured anyway). I can be wrong tho :goggly:

About the whitenoise, I remember a guy, on the guitarampmodeling forum, that experienced problems trying to use it as a test tone...
Apart from that, the white noise should have more highs compared to a pink (because the human ear is more sensitive on the 1000-5000Hz area iirc), so beware!!! Start always with really low volumes!

Marcus, I am at work now, but in addition to what Hades posted I will make a couple of 10s test files with Audition (white and pink noise) just in case.

BTW, there's a functional Audition 3.0 demo valid for 30 days after install at Adobe's site, which can be used to generate the test files. I'll check it out, generate the files then most likely just ditch it. :lol: You can do the same, but I can save you the hassle. Anyway, I'll up some more test files too as soon as I get home from work. :p

Or if you use WaveLab, it can generate pink/white noise and sine waves at whatever frequency you want.

Marcus, I played around some more with the 57 edge impulse...man I love this thing. I'll have to record something to show you. Thanks again bro!! :rock:
 
Somebody's having fun with video editing software. ;) Sounds great Dimi! Although I need to stop watching videos of you, because it just makes me wonder why I even bother continuing to play guitar. ;) :lol:
 
It might be already redundant to post these in view of how many options to generate noise emerged above, but since I am done with them, might as well post them: Here be test tones! :lol:

These impulses are the best I've heard! Love the mix one the best, for the tone I was using it for. It's funny, on the others I was noticing the same hump of high mid I didn't like in the el34's when I first got my jsx, though much more subtle. I think 6l6's would beef it up enough for you, but you'd still probably not like the voicing. These are very useful for me since I've only got gt12t75's to mic myself at the moment, cheers!
