MY NEWEST WORK! BETRAYING THE MARTYRS ALBUM TEASER! YOUTUBE!

Great music, I know you weren't asking for mix tips, but as mentioned, there's a big low mid gap, and the drums sound overcompressed to me, the snare pops, but there's not enough of it let through the comp IMO.

No worries! Thanks guys! I'm going to experiment with a little 2BUSS mastering EQ + freq analyzer to see where the dip actually is... =D

If it fucks up the balance, I'm not worried about it.

I love how it sounds as does the band and that's all that matters in the end... =D

As for the drums, I was going for a shotgun to the head sound and I definitely achieved that.

I realize my mixes may sound 'different' than the norm in a few areas but I'm absolutely fine with that.... =D

YOU KNOW IT'S BRUTAL AS FUCKKKKKKKKK. AMIRITE?

<3

Well, to make everything clear, audible but yet HEAVY as FUCK is never an easy task.... Compromises must be made, IMO.

But I've always had this problem. I'm not sure if my ears just REALLY dig those certain frequencies being cut or boosted or what.

I'll have to measure my room ASAP. I'm really afraid to because of what I might find but it NEEDS to be done....

Any tips on how to do this? Is IK's ARC software any good?

Yea there is so much going on in that mix and you got everything sitting perfect. That alone is a nightmare and if it take scooping mids than so be it. I kinda like how your mixes have there own thing/vibe and maybe i'm just to used to having a shit ton of mids. Keep kicking ass dude!

I bought Arc......Don't waste your money on it. I don't even use it.

listening to this again on my opals, the only thing i dont like is the kick sounds tiny as the bass is super loud and taking up all the low end.
the bass is so overwhelming that there is not much punch from the kick left.
but this way it sounds massive and its the right thing to do if you want it to sound like that !!
so i guess if everyone likes it ->> nice work !

charles, i posted a tutorial on how to visualize you main room problems here. its like an almost free version of ARC.
maybe try that, its working wonders over here !

^^^^I'm with you! This band has REALLY opened my eyes to to other bands that try to incorporate the same kind of orchestraion, keys, etc. into their stuff. I'm actually a HUGE Dimmu fan now =D

As far as the trailer being epic, that's NOTHING compared to some of the stuff that's on the album. I know everyone says that.

But I'm promising you, that. =D

TWO FULL SONGS BEING RELEASED SUNDAY! I literally JUST exported the FINALS for them....! SO VIOLENT yet SO BEAUTIFUL!

dude i friggin love the scoop, TBH. first kingconquer EP (decomposing) was the most scooped thing i've ever heard and that plus the simply vulgar bass made my colon hit the floor the first time i heard it. keep scooping, don't change. 2.5k is where teh br00tz are at, i remember Harvey and i discussing this months ago and we both said 2.5k, that exact frequency, haha. The worst part about it, for me, is when i try referencing to anything you've done. my mix will just sound like a mud pie. like the kinda dump you take the day after you down a bottle of jack and then think it's a good idea to go through the 24/7 mcdonalds drive through and get 4 large fries and then you pass out half way through the third one. the dump taken the next day, is what my mixes sound like referenced to yours.

Fucking love it man! As other have pointed out, the mix is pretty unique and not "perfect" but I think what you've done with it completely works in its favour. It sounds different to anything else I've heard yet still brutal as fuck, and it definitely stands out. Incredible job managing to balance so many elements as well.

edit: in fact, the mix reminds me of some early black metal mixes but with much higher quality from source and much better balance between the instruments. that's the first thing that hit me actually, it sounded like fucking early dissection or something hahaha

LMAO. you're insane juju.

funny mention the reference issue... as yo may be able to imagine, 75% i reference one of my newest works against a couple things that sound AMAZING to me, it sounds like my mix is just totally FUCKED overall.

recently discovered older Nordstrom (ala DIMMU) was all sitting in a VERY similar freq range!

i'm going to say fuck it and not even worry about it anymore. do my thing and that's it!!!!

Thanks guys =D
