So, I was sifting through my ticket stubs after Ozzfest this weekend, and it dawned on me that I have had the good fortune to see pretty much ALL of my favorite bands this year - weird. These included:
Phil Lesh and Friends (of the Grateful Dead) featuring Chris Robinson from The Black Crowes on vocals
Robert Plant
ISIS
Sabbath
Maiden
Bob Dylan
The Lord Weird Slough Feg
Kings of Leon
The Mars Volta
...and still to come are
Nine Inch Nails/Queens of the Stone Age
Sigur Ros
....and best of all
Dead Can Dance (reunion tour - of which I'm seeing three dates)
Seriously, those are ALL bands/performers that I hold in the highest regard, and so to see them all in the same year seems odd to me. I even think I'm forgetting one or two sitting here at work. Also, looking at that list, I realize it was kind of a slow year for metal. As to my favorites, Opeth is definately not on the "I saw..." list, but I didn't want to see them only play three songs on the Sounds of the Underground tour. I've seen them 3 times before, so to see them like that didn't sound very cool to me. Ah well, they'll come back through. Oh, lastly Tool didn't tour, so......
