Nachtmystium - Assassins

Not a bad album different. Lots of acid rock and psychedelia in there...If you don't have an open mind you'll totally miss what they are trying to do....

Seriously my old school brother has a point i cant wait to see these guys friday at dudefest 08 i just picked the 2008 EP and Assasins and imho these guys have a finger on something to me they are definitely on it \m/ probably the closest american band that has that later Enslaved vibe to them call me crazy but thats my opinion.

actually, moments on this album did remind me of later Enslaved. Some of the riffs also seemed a little Primordial-ish

But lots of people will hate it not because of the music but because of Blake's "unkvlt" attitude and "hipster" "agenda" or whatever. Metal fans...

Personally, I am psyched to get this!

I am suprised at how much I have been listening to this album the last week. Seriously hasn't left my car cd player. Whoever mentioned they have a Primordial vibe wouldn't be too far off, I was thinking this album has some Agalloch moments as well.

Attitude I can ignore, but it's hard to hide a retarded haircut.

In other words, let the music speak for itself. This music is speaking many things, almost as if this is the one album to be shared by so many different rock and metal genre fans.

Just bought it today. Ghosts of Grace sounded kind of 80'sish but other than that it's pretty cool so far

Best to least:

1. Ghosts of Grace
2. Assassins
3. Your True Enemy
4. Omnivore
5. Code Negative
6. Drowned at Dusk
7. One of These Nights
7. Silent Sunrise
8. Oceanborne
9. Away From the Light

However, "A Seed for Suffering", "Chosen By No One" and "Here's To Hoping" shit all over each one of these songs.

When I first heard it (sampling at Virgin records), I came in "in media res" and thought it was Children of Bodom because of the vocals, but I was shocked to discover that it was Nachtmystium. I latched onto it quickly, and while I agree that it is nowhere near the level of Instinct: Decay, listening to it with an open mind and no expectations really emphasizes the distinctiveness of the album.

I don't like Instinct: Decay or any of their other previous music I've heard, even though it's not a bad. I actually somewhat enjoyed this.

Seems like Nachtmystium is turning into another Opeth. Opeth unites death metal fans with prog fans, and Nachtmystium's now uniting Black Metal fans with Pink Floyd fans.
