Need Help Using VST's

I am having issues with a lot static clicks and pops using Reaper with my motu ultralite mk3 hybrid. I like to switch between using a AMT R1 with impulses and a few lepou vst's to play along with songs. With the R1 I have to set the slider volumes low to the point that it becomes useless to play along with anything. The VST's just plain click and pop not matter what I do. I think it's an issue with latency but I don't know how to go about fixing it.

I use a Thinkpad X200:
windows 7 32 bit
Intel core duo p8700 at 2.53GHz

I am not too interested in recording anything, I just want play along with some music.

Options / Preferences / Audio / Device / Audio System: Set it to ASIO

Request block size: 512 here works flawlessly.

Change latency under the "ASIO configuration" button.

ASIO thread priority: Driver Default

I don't understand this part.

Why do you have to set them so low that it becomes useless ???

changing the block size seems to have fixed the issue. Thanks a ton, this was driving me insane.
