I need some mixing inspiration so name your fave sounding metal album. Extra points if it's on Spotify so I can listen to it on the fly.

Just to kick it off a bit here are a couple of my favourites:

Tool - 10000 days - my favourite for drums and bass
Nevermore - DHIADW - still my fave for guitars

Cynic - Focus
Death - Human

These albums changed the way I perceive music and drumming in general (Sean Reinert).

Current enjoyments:

Exodus - The Atrocity Exhibition
Dream Theater - Scenes from a memory & Train of thought
Arch Enemy - Doomsday Machine (sound wise my alltime fave)
Death - individual thought patterns (fretless bass and awesome drumming)

Mercenary - The hours that remain
Scar Symmetry - Pitch black progress
Dimmu Borgir - Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia
Evergrey - Recreation day
At the gates - Slaughter of the soul
Dream evil - dragonslayer

I know you wanted metal.... but lately Story of the Year's "The Black Swan" has been kissing my grits.

Really good mix on it. I swear.

For metal, Symphony X's the Odyssey has to be my favorite for some odd ass reason I think it sounds brilliant.
