howdy! I am looking to improve my mixing skills, does anyone have any stuff they want to send me so I can practiced mixing? It can be anything, it doesn't matter, but it would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,
Eric

hey dude I am going to post a song for you to mix soon. I just need to transfer it to a computer with an internet connection and get hooked up to the sneap ftp.

Im just starting out and would also love to get some new tracks to mix. Only been playing around with the unrest track so far.

Getting these files has been a headache dude. The Adobe Audition session I took them from blew up on me. All my settings and what not went totally bonkers. Luckily I was already done mixing the song and have copy of the finished mix down. I was yelling at he computer and scaring the dog for awhile there.

The Sneap FTP is apparently not in use at the moment (so says the sticky thread). So I ended up putting the stuff on 4shared Uploader. This is the first time I have used it so let me know if these links don't work correct.

It took all day to up load the files. I could not put them all in the same compressed folder due to rules of the file sharing site. I hope you guys have large bandwith.

Below I am cutting and pasting the links. The first one is an mp3 of my mix of the song.

Alright man! Thanks dude! this really means a lot! I am gonna try downloading everything tomorrow and see how it all turns out!

Thanks Again,
eric

Thanks Carvedrones. My mix is not mastered yet so hopefully it will sound even better then.

If you download the drum files it will be obivous that the were programed with a sequencer. I posted all the DI tracks for guitar and bass. On my mix I used Revalver MK II.

I used a ton of compression,eq, etc on my vocals when mixing, this will also be apparent when you hear the basic tracks. My dry vocals sound like poop!

Therer are alot of things I would have done different tracking in hindsight.

I await you guys mixes.

I agree it would be way cooler with better drums. It wasn't a lack of effort in the programming though, more a lack of drumming ability. Tom fills would help alot, but I am not worth a damn at programming them.

The next project I do I want to use a real drummer, even if I just record him with all triggers.

This is great stuff Abyssofdreams. I totally dig it. I like the surrond effect on the verse vocals. And the kick drum sound is much better than mine. I also liked where you added the rthym guitars to the first bar of the guitar solo.

On the chorus I noticed something that is my bad. The high snare drum and low snare drum are out of time for the last hit at the end of the chorus riff. This is not so noticeable on my mix because I did not mix in the high snare very loud. If you manually fixed these couple of hits it would make the chorus alot cooler (I can't since my mixing session blew the hell up).

I used my washburn dimebag with Gibson pickups (can't recall the model) for most of the song. I think there was some of my Ibanez Jem with a Seymor Duncan JB pick up. And a tiny bit of one of my Fenders with a Dizmaro pickup.

What's a "killcode"?

Hey poisoned dreams I already have the files on this computer in two compressed folders. If you point me at a site that will let me upload them I will do it.

could you please be so kind and upload the guitar di tracks and drum midi? or at least the drum midi.. that would be awesome ;)

Howdy guys, I am slow at answering because I bought a house yesterday and now I am moving in. Good news for me is that now I actually have some place I can be noisy and not get kicked out.

The Guitar tracks which are up are already DI tracks. As for the Midi Drums I did the drums in fruity loops and exported wave files to Adobe Audition 2.0. I did this because Audition 2.0 is not friendly to midi (but I hear that 3.0 is). I think I can export midi from fruity loops, but it might not work out. I will give it a try when I get time.

The intro does not have an effect on it. I mixed down the song to a CD, hooked my walkman up to my sound card input and played the song on fastfoward. I always thought that fast fowarding CD's sounded cool.
