Negura Bunget

^ hating a band that you like is not a "fail".

i think that agalloch have some good songs, and i respect them, but i have a love/hate relationship with them. sometimes i can be very annoyed with them (especially the vocals) and sometimes i can be carried away by them.

Agalloch don't share any similarities with Bunget. 'n absolutely destroys, while Om is slightly better 'n is a major raper. Fucks sake I want the new one to leak pretty badly. Everything before 'n is ok, not much of it did much for me tbh, kind like pre Dso- SMRC.

Prolly getting off topic here, but I have just recently started really enjoying pre SMRC.

Especially their Manifestations 2002 compilation, which is pretty much a missing link album between Inquisitors Of Satan and SMRC. It has the old vocalist, but fairly good production, and you can start to hear those awesome riffs that surface in SMRC.

So IMO start with Manifestations 2002 and work backwards.

And now I absolutely love their older stuff. =)

But yeah as previously stated, I'm a bit the same with the earlier Negura Bunget material.

Actually thinking about it the new Bunget is probably my most anticipated releases left in 08. They are the only band left to release an album this year that have the talent and the potential to beat the year out. Though they have mammoths like Esoteric and Enslaved to contend with. I think they definitely have the potential to beat Watershed, maybe Vertrebrae but The Maniacal Vail? That's another question entirety.

You sound like you know something! Like what kind of date a new NB album might be coming out? Cos their official site hasn't been updated in a long time. But you're right, Negura Bunget are one of the few bands that could compete with the likes of The Maniacal Vale, Vertebrae, Watershed etc.

So yeah, in other words, got any info on this rumoured new album?

^I do like pre SMRC and Manfestations 2002 was pretty awesome, I agree on it helping appreciate their earlier stuff as well. The new Bunget is aimed at a late 08 release. They have been recording for some time, yeah I know the official site is lazy as, I got the info from a heads up from Opeth_353 at the Code 666 label forum. They aim to get it out by late 08 or certainly early 09. I would think we would have a leak by November or early December.

If I do get 'N, it won't be for a while. I'm taking my time with OM, as it rightfully deserves. To the Agalloch haters, clean the spuds out of your ears. Also, I do agree that NB and Agalloch are very different, but one similarity they DO share (to me anyway) is the pagan nature theme, which I dig rightiously!!

Another band I'm interested in, but haven't heard much yet is Wolves In the Throne Room. Do they have the same basic themes? I did read up a little on them, and they say that album has something to do about fighting a bear(?). Cool concept, if true.

Also, I bought my copy off eBay, from a seller in Ontario, Canada. Are they coded differently than the US?

I don't hate Agalloch, but they are very very different to NB, but yes they share a similar pagan nature theme, as do WIITR, who are again completely different. Some have compared WIITR to Weakling, except without the complex riffs, and 5 layered guitars, and neck slicing vocals. The music by WIITR is a bit more drawn out, more hypnotic, a bit like Drudkh's autumn aura.. a bit. But still quite different! You just have to hear it. Both their albums are excellent. And if you haven't heard weakling, go forth!!

Oh and apparently the re-recording of Maiastru Sfetnic is going to surface some time late this year as well. Looks like lots of Bunget to look forward to, new album, dvd and a re-recording.

I want to like them more than I do. I have only listened to Om, and I've really been trying to like it, but there's something that doesn't click with me. I think it has something to do with the fact that it's black metal that actually has good production or something, because I get a feel that it's like.. I don't know how to describe it, maybe over produced or something, but I still like it, just not as much as I'd want to. :/

Back in 2006, "Hubster" suggested that I pick up "OM." I already had "N Cruga Bradlui", so no hesitation, man. Incredibel, atmospheric, and a tremendous amount of work went into this project. It impacted me like no other album in 06. I corresponded with a Romanian, and he told me, the language used on "OM" is of an ancient Romanian dialect that even a native Romanian of today could not decipher. So he said, I just let the music move me. The only other album since "OM" that has obliterated me is easily-Esoteric-"The Maniacal Vale." If TMV is not album of 2008, there is seriously something wrong.

Om is one of the greatest records ever. Trying to figure out what will come out on top in 2008, Enslaved's newest or Negura's?
