Negura Bunget

If the new Bunget is a step up from Om, even if it's a small one it will be better than Vertebrae. They are going to have to make one mother of an album if it is to be album of the year.

I only have ''N Crugu Brandului' and 'Om', and they are awesome; I seem to be the only one who prefers ''N Crugu ...', though. That album puts me in a strange mood. I'm very glad that I took Andee Connor's advice when I was up at Aquarius Records in San Francisco and picked it up (I was looking for more stuff like Weakling, and he recommended Negura Bunget... not that they're that similar). I was fortunate to get the last copy of the special edition that they had, so I too got the Transylvanian sprig. \m/ I need to listen to 'Om' more. It hasn't entirely clicked with me yet, but then, ''N Crugu Brandului' took a while, too. Great band, I have a lot of respect for them; they seem to take what they do very seriously... more seriously, somehow, than most bands out there.

I'm feeling rather kvlt at the moment and am currently giving this a spin. Awesome stuff! I've never really listened to this album in full, so I imagine I'll be listening to this a lot in the coming weeks.

And they're just so damn hairy too! Hairy bearded bastards.

Also, all of you who have heard 'N and Om, have you seen the Vazduh filmclip? That song isn't on any of their albums, and is a nice little addition to their catalogue. And those of you who love Om, have you all seen the DVD and film clips? Amazing stuff.

They're so softly spoken in their interview, and very serious too. I think their seriousness makes them come accross as very genuine!

Though I was surprised to find out that they used to don the ol' corpsepaint back in the Wiccan Rede days.

Edit: Just watchin a few live clips, and wow, these guys should make a live dvd. They had a lot of their extra folk instruments in their live shows, and the atmosphere of the shows just looks amazing. Just real bad sound quality vids though. Sadface.

Negura Bunget is the only band I've heard so far that can evoke the feeling of being connected to the earth/universe, and making one "feel" that most of what our evolutionary heritage causes us to feel and think of as important, really isn't. It's music that isn't based on shallow, common human feelings, but rather feelings that without the help of music, hallucinogenic drugs or meditation, could never be achieved. Btw, the combination of the "chemical key" and Negura Bunget is simply heavenly. A truly unique band.

a little off topic but nonetheless; does anyone know anything about a new DSO album?

well i was given a little head's up before Fas came out actually... i figured it was worth a shot

Yeah I'm pretty excited for some news from DSO. There was 3 years between smrc and fas, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case with the next and you'd expect a split or EP in the middle. Tbh I want them to take as much time as they need. I want them to try and beat fas, if that's actually possible.
