The guitars are almost identical to the Soloc+8505 signal-chain Dandelium posted here ages ago. Here is a video where I go through pretty much every track and plugin I used. You can see the guitar chain @ 7:12

Usually I really like this kind of snares but in this context I dont like it. It doesnt fits, the snare sounds somehow sterile and lifeless. The guitars are also thin. Anyway, great music and melodies.

Thanks Nuno. I partially agree with you about the snare. We had some troubles finding the right blend of samples and I did some changes in the last few days before doing the final master. Maybe it's too loud and too undynamic. At least you can hear the snare on every setup, so it isn't buried in the mix.

Thanks! We used SM57 with a pop-filter into my Mackie Onyx Satellite. Post processing included a Blockfish compressor (free) on "close-up vocals preset" and some reverb and delays. After that I bounced all vocal tracks (there are something like 12 tracks in some places) into two sterero tracks, and used L1 and another compressor on them. You can see the plugin-presets in the video.

This must've been mixed by a guitarist? The guitars are prominent and the drums are way in the back My mind was set on real drums before listening but it became quite obvious about 2-3 seconds after the drums started that they were programmed. But other than that, it's cool! Definately not bad, but it could get better and I'm sure you have what it takes to make it better. But once you're done, you're done... it's no fun to go back and change stuff, otherwise you won't ever be "done" and able to move forward.

The vocals remind me of Devin Townsend Which is a good thing! I like the tune, and the guitar and bass tones are pretty fucking awesome dude!

I'll definitely have to agree with Erkan on the programmed drums point, but realistically I think the majority of listeners aren't going to pick up on something like that. There's so much programming/sample replacement in metal nowadays that I think (my opinion) that listeners are used to those types of sounds/playing.

I also totally agree with Erkan. The whole recording process was mainly me learning how to do stuff I just had to get these four songs out of my hands at some point and convince myself that "now it's ready". When you have an infinite number of variables to tweak, it's really easy to get lost in the recording and mixing project. It sure doesn't sound just the way I want, but at least it sounds million times better than my earlier recordings

Btw, can I ask you what did you use in master bus? I didnt saw the whole video but for what I saw, you dont show your master bus.

I go through the master channel @ 6:18 in the video. Actually I mastered in a different session with slightly different settings, but the settings I used in the video are REALLY close.

I didnt saw it I am impressed how you achieved 4 GR in SSL comp without audible pumping. I have to use compression before reach the master bus, that´s my problem.
