New Animals As Leaders Album

Virgil thank you, I learn so much here.

Sure it's a lot of money, and a lot of time. But that hasn't kept me down. I don't care how hard I have to work to get a new plugin, or microphone, or RAM. I do it for the passion, the way it makes me feel. I don't have to support a family yet. My only debt is college.

I'm sure it makes you feel like shit to know that people are stealing a lot of music. But can't you see that the times are a-changin'?

What are you gonna do when the industry stops making profit? Give it up?

Perhaps a policing of the internet is a future outcome. Where we have to buy music again.
Or perhaps cultural renaissance, when the bullshit goes away and art is free.

I can dream.

Just wondering, everybody who saying pirating is bad and pays for their music are you guys saying you have never ever pirated an album/song ?

I pay for some of my music more lately (now that i have income) then ever, but really only my favourite albums. Sometimes i wonder what it was like back in the day when the only music you heard was music you had purchased, without even listening to it before buying it. With of course the exception of the radio where you might hear one really cool song so you decide to buy that bands album and turns out it was the only good song on the album.. waste of fucking money! The variety of music people listen to these days in my opinion is incredibly vast compared to before. If i lived back in time before you could pirate music i would probably only listen to Slayer and Metallica, buying their albums only because it was music i knew i would like for sure (imagine my surprise when St. Anger came out). But these days i can find new genres that i will grow to love buy downloading a bunch of different music to see if i like it before spending 20$ or something that could easily be a waste of money. Do you buy a painting without looking at it first? Do you buy clothes before trying them on? no.

I have no real point to this because other then raising a few points and voicing my own opinion other then "music pirating is stupid" or "music pirating is not stoopid" because I do not agree with giving music away for free. I just like to know that I'm going to enjoy my purchase, and even tho metal is my favourite genre i find its incredibly hard to find new metal these days that i actually enjoy (I'm talking about originality) i hate hearing another Suicide Silence, Killswitch, or Periphery rip off band. If this was before i could pirate music i probably would have bought every album from every band on major metal labels looking for new original music just to find out that i hate 90% of it. Spending hundreds of dollars i don't have to throw most of the cds out and probably just give up on music from lack of inspiration.

A lot of bands stream their album (or a few songs) for free before an album release so people can get a chance to hear it before they buy it. Also Amazon.com has 30 second previews for a every song on most albums, as well as iTunes. There are definitely legal ways to check out parts of an album (or the whole thing in some cases).

Before I begin, I would like to announce that I have a lot of respect for most of the senior members of this forum, including you Jeff.

You see, I'm finding it hard to have a conversation without being straight up insulted.

My attitude toward music (art) and life is screwed to hell and back? Art has always been free. There was a SHORT moment in the timeframe of history when it was used to make money. We're advancing on an era where all art will be free again due to popular demand. 99% of all kids with thousands of songs on their iPod bought none of it, I promise.

"Making a living in the music industry"
This is a contradiction, as I had stated that I am, and will always be due to personal choice, an independent artist.

However, I am on this board to increase my skills in Music Production.
I will be making a living off of my recording studio.

And if I record a band, and they get signed, I will have already begun to make money in the "music industry." Right?
Isn't that how it works around here?

Because if I'm wrong, I'd like an intelligent explanation as to why, and not a barrage of insults.

If you want to live off music then how do you expect for "art" as in, music, be free? Will you live off for free? How will you eat? You have no clue what you're talking about.

Population demand free art because they don't want to PAY FOR IT, because they're cheap greasy cunts. I would gladly pay to go for an awesome art exhibition, if you expect everything to be 100% free then artists will not be able to make what you like they make, since they can't even buy a cheeseburger with how broke they are.

Schecter - CHECK
Flannel shirt - CHECK
Straightened hair - CHECK

This guy doesn't need to worry about paying anyone, he's got it all figured out man.
IT'S ABOUT THE ART.

wow, this outbreak525 kid can go eat a dick.

Oh and....

WIN

Must be a kid used to getting shit for free. Mommy and daddy gonna buy him those fancy new plugs he wantz. zomg.

Wow, I give you respect and you say I can go eat a dick?

Holy shit, are you that immature?

And I love how you guys feel the need to poke fun at a picture on soundcloud, and make assumptions about me. That's seriously judging a book by its' cover.

It didn't sound like respect when you continued to make naive comments. I assumed you were being sarcastic when you thanked me. If you were being serious, I apologize. As for the rest of what's been said towards you, I still feel you and your priorities are completely backwards.

Apple ruined it for me, for any apple haters out there (like me) they won't touch iTunes in a million years, its a joke. Yes I could use play or Amazon but tbh MP3's are just a faff.

Its all about Spotify! £4.99 a month, unlimited music, done & legal.

I think the only people saying they would give there music out for free are the bands starting out, not the established ones, and that's fair enough but its not a business plan. However I would argue that most bands make more money on live and mech sales rather then actual music sales, atleast for this music genre.

I was being serious, and it's fine.

I understand you're all involved with the music industry, and I apologize if I insulted you. But still, how does the music industry plan to react to the huge population of people downloading music illegally?

As for the AAL album, I hope the snare is louder on the actual CD.

It's already responding, with legal downloads. Only the ones not willing to support still steal.
If you like the band/album, support them buying the CD or a legal download.

Btw, I think Spotify is a rip off to musicians... although it's a good idea in it's core essence.

This album is out now.

While I'm not a big fan of the obvious axe-fx tones (rhythm guitar especially, cleans and leads are pretty cool actually) and superior drummer samples, the music is very good. I like it more than the first album.

Also, I just saw the band live on the BTBAM/AAL/Tesseract tour, and they were much better overall than the first time I saw them last year. They played tighter, they were really energetic, and they had two projector screens with trippy visuals synced up to the music during the whole set. Really pretty awesome...

I think this new album reflects the playing and writing style of Tosin, and not Misha (who I believe helped Tosin co-write/produce their first album). I'm digging it.
