Yeah, its a pretty fucking rad song. Dark, aggressive, still melodic. I hope this ushers in a rebirth of good melodic death metal.

Yeah, a lot people blame At The Gates and Slaughter of the Soul in particular for bringing in the metalcore era and making a mockery of the original melodic death metal style. It would be awesome if, 20 years later, At The Gates comes back and says "No, you guys are doing it wrong..." and this album puts everything back into normal order again.
It's no surprise that the new song is good (and I agree it's good). Fucking dark, isn't it? The members have all been heavily involved in the scene in the 20 year interim and producing good music. My only question is if it can top Surgical Steel. I want it to but I'd be very, very surprised.

Sounds okay, but what's up with the vocals? On their last two albums I could actually understand what was being said at least three-fourths of the time. On this it's just a bunch of "Arrrrrr" "Mmmmmwarrr" "gurgaaaa"

Yea it's a monstrous release. Dark and melancholic with very strong but subtle melodies. And the vocals are just plain sick. But it isn't better than SS....not musically, anyway.
