New Avantasia Song Posted!

You have outdone yourself, private PM74 :kickass:, thanks for the link!

Kitty is gonna wet her pants :p

I know it's a matter of time when the whole thing leaks but there's samples of some songs on tobiassammet.com, sounds pretty good to me. I was one of the three people worldwide who actually preferred Scarecrow to the first two and this seems to be more of that style. And really it's worth getting just for the all-star cast: Lande, Kiske, Ripper, Oliva...

Same here. I frigging loved Scarecrow. The first two records (personally) were like mediocre Edguy records with a star cast. (For my money, Theater of Salvation, and really any of the newer Edguy discs are much better than The Metal Operas).

I went to play the new Avantasia track last night... did a huge build up to it, talked about the cast go to hit "Play" and the goddamn computer crashed. ON AIR (Around the 38 minute mark). Thankfully I had a CD loaded. And then the same thing happened with the new Tarot!

Anyways, so far the new Avantasia seems like it'll be a monster.

And the first video has been released

very commercial

So? Let's not confuse commercial with pop. The final goal of every artist is to sell the product of its work, hence is inherently a commercial point. Now of course there are levels of commerce, from a single hit on radio to merchandise psychosis (Kiss anyone? :heh:).

I have no problem with a catchy radio-friendly tune as long as is a good one, how many years we have been listening to 'Paranoid', 'Smoke On The Water', '(don't fear) The Reaper', 'Breaking The Law' or 'Run To The Hills'?

The songs works, Avantasia works, the cheesy video works :D

It leaked and I'm only 2/3 way through the first album. I must say, if it continues like this, it's at least as good as the Scarecrow. It kicks serious ass so far. :)

I listened to both yesterday. Yes the material is in fact in the vein of "Scarecrow" but some songs left me with the flavor of being leftovers from the "Lost In Space" EPs.

Jorn shines like always, but I didn't like much the performance of Tim Owens. I'll have to give the songs another round. At least the music is NOT a comeback to the oversweetened power metal of the "Metal Opera"

Now that I've heard them almost twice, yeah, it's not quite as good as the Scarecrow. Partly because with 21 songs, you're bound to have some songs better than others. Sort of like GNR's Illusion, if you made 1 album with the best work, it'd be a damn strong release. Still, it's very good. If you liked the Scarecrow, you'll like this.

Wyv, you didn't like Ripper? I thought you were a fanboy, no? I quite liked his performance on the song to be honest.
