new BDM tone, ATG tone, with XXX

Okay i play the triple x through a jcm 900 cab. Emg 81 equiped eclipse or 85 equiped ibanez, 60 or 70 gauge strings ,Tuned to B.
It came with new shuguang el34 type b tubes.
And 12ax7 pre tubes, Either stock brand or same as power tubes.

Settings on a clock would be on teh crunch channel... I havnt really figured the active eq yet, And Im used to my old 5150 anyway, Which i MISS DEARLY.... Hers the xxx settings

Master- 2:00
Hair- 10:00
Body- 9:30
Bottom- 12:00
Channel Volume- 10:30
Channel Gain- 1:00

I have a bad monkey pedal also but it does nothing for this amp. works cool with a 5150 though. SO the pedal is a paperweight until i get another 5150.


I want some tips on getting this amp into the new black dahlia tone (new song on myspace)

or like the new At The Gates type of tone. Which I know is 5150 But damnit I dont have a 5150 anymore so Thats why Im seeking some help, If I dont get it soon i might throw this XXX head in the creek and piss on it.

They used peavey supreme head with boss MT-2 chained with boss HM-2 before the called it quit btw.

Oh and gain at 1:00 on a XXX? Looks like an insane amount of gain to me.

NOt really sure which at the gates, Ill have to check back and see, It was a video kind of in a dark room.

And Most people were saying it was 5150.

And moving the gain down doesnt really improve things
as far as overall tone of the amp. Its right at the threshhold
of getting into feedback territory. its not crazy sounding
on the crunch at 1 oclock.

Absolutely! I emailed Anders back then and got the asnwer from him. I couldn't believe it.

Don't forget the very wierd cab they used for the album. Custom built by Anders father with 2*10" and 2*12" =)

Just proves the fact that it's more to a great sound than the label on the amp

If you listen closely, their sound was kind of muddy. The incredibly tight playing does everything.

Yeah, I was gonna say that the tones on SOTS aren't all that awesome. The songs are, the vocals are, and the drums certainly are...But the guitar tone was basically them trying to be Carcass - without having 5150's. That being said, whether the guitar tone is "good" or "bad" doesn't really matter because the sum of all the parts equals a classic album.

yeah i think your´re right about the tone, is the tight playing that does the magic, and the songs that are amazing, but im still impressed about the set up.
Im Curious about that weird cab.

Still not happy with the xxx, Im gonna try some new settings later, Maybe try keeping all settings below 4, I heard that helps out.

I always keep the master high.
And Ill change the gain around from 1 oclock to 10-11

Hey I love your BDM tone thread! Do you have any other shortcuts for those of us with XXX amps? I'm looking for a Killswitch shortcut and a Lamb of God shortcut. I know it is about impossible to replicate that tone without an overdrive but I want to get as close as possible
