New C-1 Elite, mahogony body.. WHAT PICKUPS?! *vote*

What pickups should I get for the C-1 Elite? (Mahogony Body/Neck)

The 85 and the Jazz are EXTREMELY EXTREMELY different pickups. The 85 is fat, warm, smooth, and high output. The Jazz is tight, bright, spanky, and low output.

I would be surprised if the 81 sounds like the Custom, considering that the Custom is an Alnico magnet and the 81 is ceramic.

Custom is ceramic, and as tight as 81 only a bit less shrill.

You`re probably right about Jazz though, but the other popular neck SD, the '59 is not quite EMG-85 either.

My bad, I mistook it for the Custom 5 :lol: Not much of an SD guy. The '59 is fairly close to the 85, its fat and warm in the same way, but it honestly sounds a bit better to me, especially for cleans. Its a bit brighter with more life, especially split. For leads, though, the extra smoothness of the 85 is a lot better.
