I think this is an almost flawless album out of a genre that has been historically plagued with a lot of filler

Considering what they were going for, I don't think there's anything they could have done differently to make it better. But what they were going for (a fun flashback to the '80s) isn't something that belongs on the list of all-time greats.

That album came out 18 years ago. Isn't it funny that now it's older than the albums that influenced them were at the time?

I agree, Legacy of Kings is solid. Though Crimson Thunder is a personal favorite since it was my first HammerFall album.

It's for sure in my top 10 power metal albums though.

Wrong - HammerFall is influenced by pure steel metal brother Dave.
Steel has been around for a VERY long time!
