I thought the same...that riff is basically Malice Through The Looking Glass.

They could've been a great gothic black-ish band, but their songwriting went down the tubes after Cradle to Enslave.

Primordial has been pretty consistent, as well as Opeth in my opinion. I know I'm gonna get flamed for it, but Dimmu Borgir just keep getting more and more epic with every release. Whether the purists like it or not, their brand of symphonic "dark" metal has spawned a million copycats.

You're right, though...Midian was a great album. You could feel the downward spiral starting, but it was just the beginning so it wasn't so bad.

I agree...wasn't really into the new Stormblast.

Their latest offering actually put me off a bit at first but then grew on me. I started to notice little intricacies in it that I overlooked. It's a much more impressive album musicianship-wise and composition-wise, but DCA was pretty much their pinnacle of epic.

Is it just me or did Nile's latest release last year fall flat? I thought Annihilation of the Wicked pulverized it.

It's good, but I just get bored of bands that do the same ol shit album after album. I listened it a few times, determined I liked it and moved onto something else.

Indeed, cheesenipples. 'Tis my favorite Dimmu album as well. Though, it's neck and neck between Puritanical and In Sorte Diaboli due to Hellhammer's wicked fucking drumming on that album.

Agreed. It had some okay tunes but mostly came off as bland to me. Annihilation delivers the PWN all through.

as fpr COF: I agree with neal.... Half of Midian was O.K, the ones that came before were great, the rest that came after that- LAME.

I don't know, but maybe.... JUST maybe! It has a lot to do with the fact that
COF is really not COF anymore but "Danny and friends"...
