New Enslaved Album

Enslaved, very rarely have dissappointed me. The split they did with Emperor(Hordanes Land) is some of the rawest, baddest Black Metal ever. Enslaved blow away Emperor, but hey, that's just me. Certainly Enslaved have a strong discography. "Mardraum"(Beyong the Within) is probably my favorite along with "Below the Lights", "Vikinginlgr Veldi", "Isa" and "Runn." This new one should be ridiculous and sick.

That's a rather ridiculous opinion, since Blodhemn is basically a watered down version of the black metal they started on Frost and BTL is a watered down bm + 70s prog they started on Mardraum. May I ask why you don't prefer those albums?
i don't like Mardraum enough to listen to it on a regular basis.

The Crossing, Ridicule Swarm and A Darker Place are my favorite songs by them. BTL in general reminds me a great deal of opeth but in a more stereotypically scandinavian/viking manner.
I didn't originally like frost ONLY BECAUSE OF THE RECORDING QUALITY. The first time i heard Jotonblod on their live cd it became my favorite song by them because i could actually hear it. Don't get me wrong, i love some black metal (1394, dissection, wittr, gogoroth & emperor to name a few) i'm not a stranger to that harsh treble filled sound its when i first heard Enslaved they had a more melodic quality that i think is sometimes lost or overlooked in some harsher black metal.

besides there are mellotrons all over BTL, it has to be good.

::EDIT:: also i like blodhemn for the same reason. its fairly harsh in places but you can still hear quite a bit of whats going on musically and Enslaved always has a little bit more going on than the typical black metal band.

Great album, although not everyone seems to be digging it. The last song definitely is the stand out track.

Yeh I wish the rest of the album was as good as that track. It's an interesting album though, its certainly grown on me over time.
