NEW lamb of god song

yea...i definitely have to agree with whoever said the beginning sounds like fucking hostile, i even thought at first that someone had re-named fucking hostile as a LoG song

I like the fact Chris has started doing the constant double kicks more now.

I heard he bike rides 15-20 miles to band practice to improve his double bass. He obviously owns a car but it must really effective. I think it helps get your body used to a constant pedaling motion.

I had the chance to chat with him and he mentioned to me that during the recording process he "couldn't listen to anything but Arsis and Decapitated" both of which have some awesome double bass but I thought that sounded kinda crazy. For the record Chris has never used triggers before, hes really slamming those pedals. I also noticed he switched from Axis to DW9000's! I have a friend who actually made the opposite switch so I guess its all about preference.

One of my favorite "double kick" bands is always gonna be Amon Amarth!:kickass:

True Chris said he hasn't used triggers but on the latest release at least he tracks everything seperate, OH's, Kick's, drum's, full kit in seperate takes for seperation as you may already know if you watched his live webcam tracking.

I did say if you used drumagog it would be a fair bit easier to Josh and Chris but they dismissed it saying it would sound too machine like, I did mention multi-samples or ideally samping the kit before hand then triggering the same kit samples that way but I think it fell on deaf ears :(

Damn id LOVE some Axis!! Ive tried the DW and they feel far to heavy, im used to Eliminators however. Im a guitarist but I like a bit of fun from time to time :)

Amon Amarth? Usually peoples fav double kick bands are those that just blow the fucking carpet away with speed haha :kickass:

true amon amarth isn't the fastest double kick band but i just LOVE the way frederick implements double bass into their songs! i also love their first ep with opeths current drummer (lopez)

according to chris he does a full pass on drums, then he does a pass with just hands, then just feet. and then he goes back in and punches in the more intricate fills and stuff for good measures. sounds like a good way to do it to me.

i did catch some of the live feed of him tracking and hearing the drums through an iphone mic and i was impressed considering you heard every kick and snare hit. the guys good, simply put.

personally i think "as palaces burn" is my fav but im expecting the new one to give everything a run for its money. . .

For some reason the MySpace player showed this song as being 15:20 long, and I was excited - a 15 minute epic from Lamb of God? Sadly, it's just another radio length song and it's more simplistic than almost any song on their last album. Would have made a decent intro to an epic I suppose...

Good mix, not into the music so much.

Heard it, not a fan. Writing sounds very forced at times (notably the parts where Randy goes in a higher register) and I can't see myself ever remembering the guitar riffs.

Whaaaaat?! :X
When Randy goes up to his Blythe Screeches just for the hell of it, it's insane.
If he didn't do that at least twice a song I'd probably hate Lamb of God haha.
A slight exageration, but srsly, Blythes a goofy guy when he wants to be and it's just his schtick.
Plus listening to it from a vocalist's point of view, the transitions from low to high are so perfect and smooth.
Definately something to try and develop, at least so you have the ability to.

I meant the writing so the sudden change of riffs, tempo etc instead of simply the vocals :).

yea, this set to fail song is pretty crap

it's alright from the start, but then it turns into some straight up copy/paste, cookie-cutter type of shit...the thing i've always loved most about this band is the seamless transitions from one awesome passage to another, but nowadays it seems like they're really struggling to do anything outside of the standard intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-break-verse-chorus template

I'm bored with what sounds typical LOG in their newer stuff, but i like the "fresh" and non-typical LOG sounding stuff (like the Pantera/Testament vibe on Redneck, or the straightforwardness of one of the new songs).
