It's the second time in my life that I'm working with real drums. I think it turned out pretty nice but some feedback is always helpful!

I used Trigger for Kick/Snare, drums are real and slip edited. Guitars are quadtracked. Chain was:

ESP ltd Eclipse (don't know which one - passive pickups though) - Marshall JCM 2000 - FMR RNP - Interface - Recabinet/Redwire impulses

Bass was a Fender J. I used three tracks - DI, Ampeg plug, distortiontrack

Vocals will be recorded next week.

Thanks! Good ears dude! We used a Takamine acoustic guitar for the chorus! Doubletracked and hard-panned. Some eq and reverb, that's it!

Doesn't sound dark to me. I'm listening on headphones, though.
I think I heard some parts where the drummer is not 100% in time.. and I either heard clipping about 1-2 times or it was the acoustic guitar

Me likey.

This sounds great so far.

It's got too much thump in the kick for the genre, I would say. The guitars aren't as full bodied as they should I think, and not nearly as upfront as the drums, which is a little more suited for a metal mix if you ask me.

yes you did. my fault. :) the clipping is very possible... still have to work a lot :)

This is definitely headed more in the right direction.

I would lower the presence a bit more on the guitars and add a tad more mids and you're golden.

Congrats, Olli! It´s fucking great you´re working with real drums. And I think, it sounds pretty good!

Die overheads sind noch etwas schneidend (unbedingt etwas 4khz wegnehmen), aber das wird am Ende richtig gut werden.

this fucking rulkes, really captured the pop punk experience, (new found glory, blink, set your goals) hahah sounds great

Wooord. Like Felix and many others on here, i have so much been missing the human groove after the last couple of years' huge emphasis on programming (or maybe its all ive been subjecting myself to lol!).

Shall be looking forward to some vocals on here.

Oh yeah, indeed :kickass: It´s simply great seeing the trend is going to a more natural, "human performance" direction. I guess, you mean this thread here.

@Olli, feel free to tell us your personal experience and knowledge about recording drums, as well :)
