Well Andy I didn't say Jeff sucks or anything like that. He's still one of my favorite guitar players.
As mentioned by XES, DHIADW had so many memorable solos, past that album is too much about technique.
Jeff is an amazing shredder/composer. It is impossible to find a person like him, usually shredders can't write a song, but I can say that his lead stuff was better on old records.

Another man's "it's just technique" is another mans "The muthafucker has awesome technique and knows how to be expressive with it".
I feel sorry for people that can't feel the emotion in guitar solos because to them it sounds too "technical".
