New Opeth song - "The Devil's Orchard"

only a Hammond emulation, he's using nord clavia's but could also be NI's B4 II. most likely not a real organ though.

They stated that they were using real instruments for this album (as opposed to simulating things with a keyboard), so it is more than likely they used a real organ.

This is very different, but in a good way. Bizarre and atmospheric. I love the bass work on the second half of the song, and that main riff in the beginning is amazing. However, what strikes me most is how Mike doesn't seem to take over everything with his singing. It's very well balanced with everything else.

it's... ok. i hope the rest of the album will be better.

regarding the collaboration album:
portnoy is not in it anymore, but åkerfeldt and wilson have recorded an album (no release date as of yet), and the project is called "storm corrosion" iirc.

I figured this was coming - Mikael has been hinting that he isn't into the death growls right now, and you can't fault him for doing what he really feels genuine about. I loved "Damnation", but I also love the heavy stuff too - so I am going to miss that. It will be interesting to hear the rest of the music and see what it all sounds like.

Yeah, Portnoy is not in that collaboration anymore...but I've read on Blabbermouth a couple times that Mikael and Steve have put it together and it's called "storm corrosion"

That's excellent news! It's Mikael and Wilson I wanted, couldn't care less about Porntoy. I read Mikael wanted it to be soft since he does a lot of heavy stuff, and Wilson wanted it to be heavy since he does the opposite, so hopefully it turns out pretty versatile.

Also, I can not wait to see them in November. I'm lucky enough to know a pretty lady friend who loves Opeth, it's gonna be a blast. Hell, honestly, I wish he would do a half intimate/half metal set like on the Damnation album. And Katatonia opening? Too good to be true.

The solo in The Drapery Falls is so godly. I felt really accomplished when I learned that long ass song, wish I still remembered how to play it.

aw, shame portnoy won't be with there. Regardless of peoples opinion of him I still see him as one of the most versatile drummers out there.

THANKS TO HIS HUGE SET (but also good drumming)
