New slayer track

show no mercy - reign in blood....anything after isnt even worth paying attention to.
No love for South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss? Both quality releases, I say.

As for the new single, I listened to it on the official Slayer site. I wasn't very impressed, unfortunately. They don't really know how to put a song together anymore. :(

I just thought some people might be interested thats all. I think think they put out some really decent tracks that take me back. Disciple is great, for instance.

As someone said, they didn't evolve. Thats their problem. The "sophistication" isn't an issue with me. Slayer aren't suupposed to be sophisticated, thats not why people listen to them.

They are still amazing live, i saw them a few years back when they played the entire RIB album for the encore.

99% of metal drummers can do what he does. better.

Perhaps they can. Its not about tech ability though. Its about innovation. Dave Lombardo's innovation is awesome and has influenced many drummers. Ask any extreme metal drummer out there now who their main influences are....im sure 90% of the time Dave will be mentioned.

It isn't new or interesting is it? I'm a big fan of Slayer's "big three" but the lyrics in this one are stupider than ever before, although I usually ignore Slayer lyrics anyway. Kind of a bit flatter and less aggressive too, I don't think I'll buy the album unless I have had a chance to hear it first.

I found it really boring. Not that I usually listen to Slayer for anything more than their fast and violent sound (and only when I feel angry), but Cult is really shitty imo.

The problem when talking about bands like Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth etc... now, is that everything they made that was revolutionary in their time, sounds boring and bland now. You can't really compare the quality, sophistication etc... of metal that was made 20 years ago with modern metal.

True, it's nuts to expect Slayer to suddenly sound like an exciting, underground band about to make a genre-defining record. However, I think you should also expect them not write lyrics so dumb you feel vaguely embarrassed to be a metal fan. The music on the new record just sounds like one of the older songs that wasn't so interesting, it isn't as bad as the lyrics.

Well I'm only talking about their older stuff, the rest is obviously shit. And you can hardly call any Slayer lyrics intelligent, even the ones on Reign In Blood.

I like older Slayer. Slayer has had good lyrics and stupid cliche lyrics but never as embarassing or stupid musically or lyrically as this new song. This is god hates us all part 2.

The band should call it a day because they're embarassing now.

Ive just listened to it on their website. I have to agree, its REALLY dull and unoriginal. They have tried to make the guitars have that Bloodbath / Entombed buzzsaw feel and failed miserably, it sounds too muddy and cheap. This sounds like a track that wasn't near good enough to make it on Seasons.

Oh dear.

I have to say i didn't expect much else actually. I did have some hope though. Oh well.

I will not be buying this upon this listen.....booooorrrriiiiinnng. The solos are actually starting to make me laugh.

*tastes* yep, that's Slayer.
I wasn't really expecting another Reign in Blood or anything, but this track is alright. Yeah, the lyrics sound basically the same as God Hates Us All. I guess I'll wait to hear 2 or 3 more songs before I make my decision to buy the new album. And as for sophistication, I haven't heard any aggressive type stuff that sounds sophisticated.

This new Slayer album should be damn good, I wonder if their will be another terrorist attack on the release date. I wouldn't expect Opeth fans to enjoy them, since half of this forum listens to Opeth for the acoustic parts, also alot of people on this forum only metal band they listen to is Opeth. Slayer is a little to scary for the in the closet christian Opeth fans.

SATAN LAUGHS AS YOU ETERNALLY ROT

Please tell me you are joking. Please.

I never liked slayer anyway - The vocals always tried to enter my head like a square block through a round hole, and that's something I do not dig at all. However, when you do the same thing for 20 years, it's expected that it will eventually become repetitive...

It's my personal opinion, however, that slayer was repetitive from the very first song. :erk:

Lol @ typical retard slayer fan. I'm an atheist myself and I think a world without religion would be better, but these lyrics are just dumb.
