Sound SO fucking beautiful. Perfect tension. Ugh, if only they didn't wear after about 2 hours of play. I love elixirs. I want the jangly feeling all the time.

I love that new twangy-sound of Ernie Balls' every time I slap a new pair of custom-wounds on :D

I recall someone saying that strings had atleast a 25% effect on tone, I couldn't agree more

I think it's probably more than that! Tracked this afternoon and it sounded amazing, now its like mediocre. Fuck restringing with this bastarding bridge again though. I'll do it once a month, unless specifically.

+1, I'm not saying it's hard to, but it's the sole reason I will NEVER AGAIN own a guitar with a FR on it (had a Loomis 7string a while back.) Wayyyy too much effort involved as opposed to a simple fixed bridge string-swap.

Are Elixers all they're cracked up to be? I'm happy with the sound and feel of Ernie's Balls slinkys, but if Elixers sound and feel similar, while lasting way longer I may have to check them out sometime.

Alot of people claim that they feel/sound too 'plasticy', but I suppose it's all down to taste. Whenever I buy Elixirs, I will mention that it doesn't take long for the tone to get sapped out of 'em after heavy playing :erk:

I love elixirs more than any other type of string, I find them alot more playable and long lasting. I have 11's on my 7 string with a 56 on the bottom in drop G and it sounds absolutely fucking amazing. Perfect tension, not too droopy but not too tight. Seriously recommend them! just make sure you get the right gauge!
