New Suicide Silence

The more of this thread that I read the more I'm shocked at how juvenile some of the posts are. Why would any of you care what the hell clothes anyone wears? If you dont like trendy clothes, dont wear them. Problem solved. Why would any of you care what music anyone listens to? If you dont like trendy music, dont listen to it. Problem solved.
It serves no purpose to give a shit whatsoever regarding people's opinions on any given particle of the musical subgenre explosion.
Sometimes I like listening to Suicide Silence and sometimes I cant stand to hear it because I'm not in the mood for it.
I honestly can't remember a time after Junior High School that I witnessed or was involved in people debating "what good music is".
Not only does it seem juvenile but it strikes me as ignorant to reality as well. There are multiple genres of music just like there are multiple states-of-mind and emotion. Music is only an extension of reality.

I was hoping BMTH wouldn't get brought up.
Not only is the new album an architects rip, it's more of the same mysoginist shite from Oli Sykes and more scene kids worshipping his horrible vocals, but to each their own I suppose. The production sounded pretty cool I must admit, but we all know why haha.

And on the t-shirt issue, bands get fucked out of money on album sales, so whatever way a band can make money, I'm all for it, it's just a shame they get ratted on by forumites who until proven otherwise, aren't making any money out of their music.
This is why I hate that obscure underground black metal stuff where the guy (never guys, they're always fucking solo projects..) spouts some shit about ITS ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC, NOT THE T-SHIRTS N SHIT BRAH, ALL YOU WILL FIND ON THIS MYSPACE PAGE IS THE TR003ST MOST N3CR0 TREM PICKED RIFFS AND *ZERO* MONEY FOR MY TIME AND EFFORT!

Everyone has the right to earn a good living, and it sucks that bands are the only people that get put down when they make a decent amount of money. I swear it's one of the few industries where people working hard (cos that's what it takes, hard work and motherfucking dedication) and making money is a bad thing.

Yeah, anytime my band has the budget to have 20 t-shirt designs we will surely do that, it's the only way to acctualy make some money and not constantly finance the band from our main jobs. If someone thinks this is selling out or whatever, they're either 12 years old or mentaly retarded.

It's great for consumers aswell.
I personally love having a huge range of t-shirt designs to choose from when I'm buying a band tee.

It`s opinions interchange, you neither can be walking around without care about anything, or being indiferent haha, is boring.

I think can´t make my point, because it seems like im the "Closed minded", i just don´t get that blind faith to deathcore. "it´s gotta be awesome, cause is Deathcore!!!!" so if it can be like that, also can be "it`s sucks, because it´s Deathcore". why some guys can´t understand that nobody is forcing nobody to not listen Suicide Silence, or to buy their 100 t-shirts, but support their music, not their image, look for their Cd´s not only their t-shirts. listen to it and show it to your friends, not just wear their t-shirt.

There´s a local case of a kid who went to a show, only buy a few t-shirts and left, he payed the ticket, but he didn´t stayed to watch the band perform, so i wonder, if this really is about music, or is just about wearing t-shirts, by the way, it was a big deathcore band.

I support my bands by buying their Cd`s, not downloading their music ilegally, making a cd is more expensive than make t-shirts, so you want them to earn some bucks to continue, buy their hard worked music cd.

But i supposed im juvenile, but with and old thinking mind (of buy cd`s).

Yeah Marcus, tell me i`m wrong haha.

Im not fighting, just trying to make a point, but it seems like im the only one. that was my last post about it:)

Dude anyone who *thinks* about Suicide Silence so much and Deathcore in general must really LOVE IT. Geez, if you don't like the band, fine, i'm sure everybody can live with that.

Never really heard the band, but have heard plenty of Deathcore. If anything I admire those guys "work ethic", non-stop touring, etc. I'll give them props for that.

I think Gabriel meant, if the fans of these "scene" bands get into older deathmetal bands that that money will trickle up to those bands. Fuck it, if music like this gets kids into metal at all instead of rap or pop that is all good with me.

Yeah but see bands make sweet fuck all off of CD sales. Maybe $3-4 between the entire band per album sale if they're lucky.
Record labels, most of the time, don't take a cut (or one worth talking about at least) out of the money they make off selling a t-shirt, which can be like £15-£30, which will recoup the costs of making an album far more quickly.

Man, I'm not sure where you got that from but they call the rate per CD sold to the band, the penny rate. It's a small percentage and it's after all reductions. You first have to recoup the recording fund before you make anything of CDs. That includes any Advance you get.
I think in most metal band's situations, the t-shirts are funded entirely off them unless they've arranged something in their contract with the label. I think bands touring and selling merch is their biggest income. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That's exactly my point man, a band's gonna make more money selling shirts and merch than cd's!

I bet you that, they as music makers, prefer to sell 100 cd`s, than 50 t-shirts.

The business with t-shirts is the same, the label make thems t-shirts, and a percentage is for the label or for the clothing company endorsing them.

the bmth isnt awfull at all. I just think this is a casting band.
The band looks toooo scenekid style (SS doesnt do)
they always has great productions from the first start (like bullet for my valentine->why is the first EP mixed by colin richardson, thats makes me totaly jealous!!!!)
and the songs: They put every hyped shit in there songs:
Like for the new record:
Snare flams, Bury your dead riffing, punk rock vocals, so many breakdowns,
I realy think they are the o-town of metalcore

kinda ran through this thread and just noticed a lot of bickering so i power read through some of it and i think SS is pretty cool. not really my cup of tea but they seem to be doing something right.

that being said i was at machines studio for some of the recording and he was into making this as heavy as he could while not making it sound like a typical metal mix. that's his usual philosophy with metal bands. they did the usual separate drum technique. either way it came out cool i think. think they used 2ch triples for guitars but he said he was gonna reamp probably with mesas later.
