Well, as many of you probably know (and have heard) the new SX album is out. I've got say, I'm right impressed by this new music.

Odyessy was a bit of a let down for me (after V, which ranks among my all time favorite albums) this one picks up where I think V left off. Heavy, melodic and catchy as hell. Best of all, it's the same SX as always. New music, same sound.

This'll be up there for my faves of 07!

Yeah !! Straight up into my top 5 of 2007 !!
Great progressive US Metal !!!! Really looking forward to the
Dream Theater/ Symph X concert later this year !!

Wow, thanks for the news. I will get it at once.

Odyssey is my favorite SymX album actually. But of course, I like 'em all, so any style is OK with me.

I got it last night too, about an hour after my post above....

It's freakin' insane. I don't see anything topping this as album of the year for me. Nothing less than top 3 for sure.....

I love The Odyssey. It's possibly my fav from them.

I liked Odyssey, but anything would have been a let down after V. Although most rate DWoT as the best SyX album (and it is a great one), like you I pick V as the best. Personally, it rates right below Streets and Mindcrime (and right above Eternity X's The Edge) as a top 5 of all time.

I have listed to PL twice now, and think it's amazing. As you said, both heavy and melodic, and incorporating the technical mastery typical of SyX.

So far, it's one of the tops of the year for me, but it's still early.

Damn straight! That's exactly what I was thinking too. Definitely a V feel to it. V is probably my favorite but on certain occasions DWoT takes the #1 spot.

Yeah, agreed.

Their trinity of Divine, Olympus and V were their 3 best. Odyessy was good too, but something seemed to be missing. I loved Accolade 2 - was almost worth the price of the CD alone.

This new disc is certainly a continuation of what SX is all about. :notworthy

Wow. This is ambitious!

Fourth listen thru and I'm already polishing a gold pedastal! Production is excellent, something that SyX has always lacked. The songwriting is the headliner here, though. This is a very diverse album, very Savatage-esque, in style and sometimes in sound. Reminds me of Poets and Madmen with all the killer riff changes throughout.

Definite Album of the Year contender.

I agree with all the positive reviews. Its an excellent album, although I feel it doesn't top Odyssey. 5 Stars anyway.

I heard some people complaining that there was a lack of an 'Epic Track' in this album. Well, quite frankly, 'Revelation' is actually the epic track to end all epic tracks. Even though its only 9 mins. Awesome way to finish an album.

TSO, Their production has always been very good (perhaps not on the first two albums) but from Divine onward it's been great.
Well speaking strictly of V and and Odyssey, I always found the production "tinny" sounding. It was clear, yes, but I always had to crank the bass all the way up and it still didn't have enough OOMPH for my tastes.

It's especially noticable when in rotation on my six-disc changer. Whenever V comes up, I always have to fiddle with tone controls (either EQ or bass/treble) to get it to sound even remotely as heavy as whatever album played before it. Then, of course, when the next cd starts playing I nearly blow my speakers with distorted bass. :D

Might be the best they've done. It's Odyssey meets DWoT, but a little heavier, and darker. Killer production, killer performances by ALL members. EASILY top 5 for me......
