Greetings & 'Dia dhuit'(Irish for 'Howdy') to one an' all...

New to the whole Testament world,and,a-looking for the best place to start!

Have been a fan of bands like Megadeth,Metallica,Anthrax and the like for many-a-year,but,so far, have but one album by Testament -- 1994's 'Low'. It's a great album and I've been reading up on the band on various sites, and,am here for a wee li'l bit of advice ---what album to go for next??

'The Legacy' & 'Practise what you Preach' are considered the best?

How many Official DVD's do the band have out,I'd love to see some live footage...

'Slan go foill'(A Very Metal 'All the best') from here^^

get the legacy it kicks ass. the new order and practice what you preach kick ass too...unless u want all their albums dont waist ur money on souls of black

Hello there. You will probably eventually buy all of their albums, but to start after hearing "Low" you can either want to get something heavier that came after it- then "The Gathering" is your choice (but it's way faster, more brutal and less groovy than Low, be prepared) or something more melodic that was before- check "The Ritual" then (but it's much more melodic and laid back, closer to traditional heavy metal). You may also want to check some classic speed-thrash stuff like "The New Order" or "The Legacy". If you like megadeth and metallica you'll surely love any of the first five albums (Practice and Souls of Black are something between the fast, thrashy early stuff and the slower, melodic Ritual). Demonic is modern metal with a lot of elements death metal (there are similarieties to the song Legions(in hiding) which you know). It's heavy.

As for the DVD's there's one you ought to get: the recently released "Live in London", which simply kills.
You can also chek their live album released after "LOw". It's called "Live at The Fillmore" and proves few bands (if any) can match Testament's power and precission on stage.

Very cool -- thanks for the info!

I do love the speed-thrash like early Megadeth/Metallica,but,also have a passion for extreme, brutal stuff like most of Kreator's '80's albums,so,methinks ALL or Testament's albums will be bought!

To start with,a li'l bit of both -- the heavier 'Gathering' and perhaps the earlier 'Legacy' or 'New Order'.

Avoid Demonic and The Gathering, pretty forgettable stuff.Go for The Legacy The New Order and Practice What You Preach.Testament in their prime.

One album that is mandatory listening is First Strike Still Deadly, a compilation disc of sorts that comprises songs from their first two albums but re-recorded by the band with a much heavier sound. Start to finish that CD is incredible!
