Any song you think Opeth could make better by putting their spin on it? Maybe something "non-metal" done Opeth-style?

Anything ;)

Seriously though, Yes' "Gates of Delirium" would be an interesting choice... Or VdGG's "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" ...or maybe "Man-Erg"

Bloodbath: Cancer of the Soul ... moohaha.

But I'd prefer it if they just wrote a couple more original tracks instead, but yeah. A short song, then if Roadrunner want to make another video it can be for a 5 minute cover song, so no chopping up any more of their own music.

I know... I would like to see a really out of place cover, nothing DM or Prog, or straight Metal, something none of us could ever guess so it will be a really cool surprize!

Yeah, but I've never liked it when someone does a video/single of a cover song...

I agree. That's not what i would want.

I had a weird thought: a very altered and expanded "Synchronicity II" by the Police. Imagine death growls on: "Many miles away something crawls to the surface/Of a dark Scottish loch..." It would be an unexpected cover, to be sure.

I think it's cool when an artist completely re-interprets/re-invents a song, like Hendrix did with "All Along the Watchtower" for example. Too many times, it's just a faithful rendition by the new artist, which is never as good as the original, and doesn't stand on its own.

Earlier Porcupine Tree. Also, it might be interesting if they made an early Ulver medley (with both Kveldssanger and Bergtatt/Nattens Madrigal parts) in such a way that it had the dynamics of an Opeth song.

That wouldn't really be covering if they completely changed the dynamics of it.

I just heard the original Circle Of Tyrants by Celtic Frost and the To Mega Therion album several times. It really grows on me, but the Opeth version still sounds a lot better. Vocals, guitars and the orchestra-effects of the Opeth-cover put this great song on a higher level.

I really would like to hear more "black-metal"-covers.
But of course new self-written material with another further progression is more important.

I'd like to hear Opeth cover a song originaly done with a female vocalists. Kate Bush and Tori Amos are stand-out candidates here. Maybe even one of the more up-lifting Alanis Morisette songs perhaps?
