Ahh, nothing like seeing more ignorant fucking yanks whining about the South. I have been all over the so called North and every city is just another nasty, dirty, garbage ridden shit hole. Doubt most of you jobless fucks can afford to leave your particular shit hole so you probably have never even been down here. Let me clue you in on something if you guys hate the South so much...THEN QUIT MOVING DOWN HERE. Yeah...guess what city has the fastest growing population. That would be Atlanta. Fuck, my Florida is fucking drowning in fucking old smelly cunts from up north who are just NOW figuring out that they don't have to spend their miserable lives in the frozen tundra of the North. Too bad it takes you stupid fucks 70 years to come to that conclusion. Oh, and would you pasty pricks get out in the sun once in a while. Some of you guys make maggots look tan...

Oh and how about those Marlins ass raping the Wanks in their own home. Wow...we come up and shit in your mouth and you could do nothing but choke it down...priceless.

Now onto my serious comments...the Atlanta show. I have not seen Anthrax since they opened for Ozzy in the late 80's...do the math...I'm old. Strange seeing them in this small venue after an arena...sad times.

While the bottle throwing incident sucked, I really think the group acted like some whining bitches the whole night. I mean I thought the metal image was all about death, pain, beatings, raping your mother, but I guess bottle throwing is just a little TOO extreme. Makes me chuckle... I think VH1 made them softies...

In defense of the club, they were not selling beer in bottles, so I really don't understand how someone got one. Also there is no way to see who threw the shit..we were all watching the band not the guy behind us. I mean it was crazy. You know how it is down on the floor.

I am born and raised in Ga. I've pretty much figured out that I will live in the metro Atl. area until the day I die, and lemme tell ya - if I want to talk shit about tha goddamn south and badmouth Atl. then I will. Everyone here just don't know how to act in public. I'll be surprised if the band EVER comes back here and frankly I don't blame 'em if they don't. Before you start the whole "but you're from auburn, you must be a redneck" shit-I'm a whole different breed you see, as Jackyl so put it I'm a redneck punk. Can't deny my roots, but don't embrace 'em either. Thank god the women are into freaky sex down here or I would be looooong gone.

One wrong clunk of a flying beer bottle could knock you out cold and I'm sure the band was a little shaken by it - I would be. I'd be pissed too. I don't know that anyone can judge someone's gut reaction to being attacked by an unknown assailant - who knows what we'd do in the same position when there is no one's ass to kick because you don't know who did it? I say, I was impressed that they came back for another song after that. I'd be freaking amazed if they went back to that venue though. (My first time there, it was a wickedly cool venue though!)

I saw David Draiman of Disturbed get clocked with a plastic beer bottle several months ago in Jacksonville and he pretty much reacted the same way. Pissed as hell with nowhere to vent.

What happened to the 80's where the most you tossed on stage was your bra, your phone number or a rose? I guess when the music is about rage, you forget that the rage is within and if you're raging from lack of control of your life, you ought to take control of it where you can and control your own self... because in the end, that is all you really have control over. Why give up that?
 
I wanted to know who threw the bottle at Frank. I live about an hour south of ATL and I have been waiting for over a decade to see Anthrax live and the one time I get to see them, some stupid drunk redneck throws a bottle and ends up ending the show early. I completely support Anthrax for leaving the stage though. I wouldn't expect anyone to play when you have inconsiderate people throwing bottles at you. I hate the Georgia music scene because there is always some idiot doing something to ruin the fun for everyone. It seemed the band was having a hard time hearing themnselves on stage but i thought the 45 min or so they played was unbelievable. Being from Georgia, I can say that true metal bands always get treated badly here, but please don't assume all people from Georgia act the same way. I support Anthrax and I wish I could have found the guy who threw the bottle, but i don't blame them at all. I just feel that they one guy owes everyone at the concert as well as Anthrax a huge apology and maybe his death would not be too painful.

Keep kicking ass Anthrax and hope to see you again. You guys rule the metal world.

That blows that somebody ruined the show. At least you got to see some of the set.
 
ahhh... so if someone has anything negative to say about atlanta or the south, i guess that makes them yankee scum right quakeisforqueers? you didnt have a problem blasting the north for no apparent reason, but dont say nothin about the south, huh. my guess is that you need to get a life and get over the whole north vs. south thing. southerners try to act like the south is soo much better than the north, but i run into rude arrogant assholes just as often down here, southern hospitality is a bullshit myth. i like the south, like living here, until inbred rednecks pull this " if you dont like the south, then leave yankee" bullshit.
 
I've never poster here before at UM, but I've been reading the forums for a long time now. I'm also a moderator at some other forums around the net (technical forums), so I know how this works, anyway...

I would like to clear up some things about what really occured at the Anthrax show Saturday night. I've been to a couple of shows at the Masquerade just recently (will be back Friday night for Nile too), and I can confirm, the Masquerade DOES serve beer in bottles. In fact, I've bought beer in bottles there before, and there were serving bottles saturday night. I was sitting at the bar when one guy specifically asked for a Bud Light in a bottle, and he got it. So, no one snuck any bottles in, because they didn't have to. None of the shows I've been to before, have had a bottle throwing problems before, so this was new to me...

But, I've never been drenched in beer ever before either, but that happened Saturday night too. Some genius decided to chunk his $5 beer towards the stage, and lucky me, I was directly in the path. (This was before the show, btw) I guess this guy had a cup, since I didn't feel any glass hitting my head.

Here's what happened with the bottle. I was standing directly in front of Scott Ian up front, so I was definitely close enough to get an idea of what happened. I don't know who threw it, but I know this. The bottle did not directly go towards the stage. The bottle actually bounced of an audience member's head, and then onto the stage. In fact, the guy who got clunked, came up to where I was standing to try to tell Scott that the pussy-faggot had gotten him too. The guy that got hit, had blood dripping down his head, not a pretty sight. So anyone that thinks Anthrax should should play on during a hail of beer bottles, should have seen this guy, you might think differently (but, I really didn't hear anyone mad at Anthrax for not wanting to dodge beer bottles).

I will say, I was dissappointed at John's and Frank's behavior though. Hurling mics into the consoles and tossing around mic stands is not going to fix the sound. It makes the sound people's jobs even more difficult when the already not working equipment is getting trashed. I would expect more from a professional band like Anthrax. Just because the Yankees lost, don't take it out on everyone else!

All in all, a lot of the bands sucked. The only real metal band there was Burial Rites (during which I got caught in a mosh) and Manic. The rest didn't do much for me. Also, a lot of the bands were REALLY loaded. I was actually a little scared to be near one of the bands they were acting so drunk.

In short, Saturday was a huge disappointment. For the first couple of songs, you couldn't hear John, but the crowd was still going nuts. Then, the got the sound sorta fixed. Then, I think it screwed up again. Still, the crowd went nuts. Finally, beer bottle incident. Bring Da Noize, and so long everyone. A disappointing night to an already mediocre day.
 
Whenever someone askes for beer in a bottle in a venue, it's required that the bartender pour it into a cup. Some lazy ass bartenders probably decide who poses a threat to throw em.
 
John went apeshit the last time in Rotterdam because someone had thrown a plastic cup on the stage, they stopped the show, asked who did it , the guy said sorry but crybaby Bush had to badmouth this guy for 5 minutes tellin him to kick his ass after the show, toughguy Bush!!
 
Bush is tough. He jumped in the crowd and punched a dude. I was standing right there and I clocked the same dude in the rib. I'm glad I didn't get thrown out. And then they started over the song that was interrupted. "only"
 
Most venues now-a-days serve PLASTIC bottles to the crowd to avoid shit like this. I really hope that they caught the douche bag who threw the bottle, and I also hope that the guy who got his head split open presses charges against him, plus compensation from the club.
When are they ever going to learn???
 

First off, the bar was serving bottles until about 11:00. and they then began using cups. There were bottles everywhere-on the tables, and in the very full trash cans. Scott held up the bottle that was thrown, though, and it still had beer in it (he was right in front of me). It actually bounced off the head of a kid who made his way to the front, and there was a trail of blood from his forehead down. They played 9 songs, and the last was only before John came out and tried to calm everyone down, and then they ended with "Bring the Noise". When they left most of the people who were from about the pit area forward were waiting for them to come back- I don't think most people really expected them to leave.

I don't blame them for leaving-I've seen it happen before too with Sugar- but the really bad part was how bad the bands sucked all day as we waited through it all just to see Anthrax. There was a real lack of any kind of metal, and it seems like most of the bands had not removed nu-metal from THEIR vocabs. If it wasn't nu-metal it was bad rapcore or hardcore. Which, in the end, belongs on the east coast anyway. Not surprised to find they all had homemade demos. Burial Rites couldn't even give them away, and they were the best of the lot. (Ironically, they threw one into the crowd and-you guessed it- hit a guy square in the forehead).

When the singer(s) take the stage in in Jason Kidd throwbacks, you kinda know what's coming. Then there was that band that had a song about Sunday beer sales in Georgia. Throw in driving for 3 hours to get there and it was pretty crappy. Oh yeah, and the place was most definitely a shithole-when the floor started moving it would not have surprised me to feel cracks start. Anthrax was pretty damn good though in the time they were up there and I was pretty surprised at how much old stuff they broke out. Too bad there couldn't have been more of it.

I wasn't aware that they ever stopped serving the bottles. But like you said, there were bottles everywhere. Finding one to throw would not have been difficult.

Quite a few of us up front, actually stayed a while for this very reason. I don't even recall getting a "good night" from anyone in the band. All that happened was the band walked off stage, Charlie threw his sticks into the crowd, and the house lights came on. At that point, everyone was starting think "oh shit..."

No doubt, Burial Rites was the only metal at the show. It was ashamed that there were only about a dozen or so actually in front of the stage for their show. The best we could manage was about a mosh pit of 5. :p
 
ok, here's what me and my friend can figure as to the identity of the bottle thrower saturday night in atlanta. we were about 2 'rows' of people from the stage, in front of scott's mic. other than some beer throwing, from plastic cups, when the local radio asshat came out to do some unfunny spiel, the crowd seemed to be into the show, technical problems aside, and the band seemed to be enjoying the crowd for the first time in a while. set going on, things going well, band goes into Only. here's where i think the bottles started to get thrown:

i'm on the left, my friend Richard to my right. smallish(about 5' 6") guy in what looks to be a yellow and black check shirt comes to my left, tries to force his way in front of me, i shove him back and look at him as i do. he then goes to richard's right side and tries the same thing, gets essentially the same response. for the record, i'm 5' 10" and richard is about 5' 9". dude in the yellow and black then tries to go between us to get closer to the stage or whatnot, and we BOTH toss him back, me with an elbow to the chest this time. dude in the yellow and black says something, we both turn and look at him like he's insane, and he wanders off...

moments later, a plastic water bottle hits richard in the left shoulder, no harm, no foul, another few seconds pass, and then the beer bottle clangs off of the kid's head mentioned above, whizzes past my head, on it's way to the stage. kid comes forward bleeding from a nice scalp wound, show stops, you know the rest.

best i can figure, little dude in the yellow and black shirt got pissed that he couldn't get closer or that we wouldn't let him past us, or that we shoved him, decided that he'd get us back, and started throwing shit, and then ducked out when Scott got on the mic after the song.

long story short, if anyone who was at the show knows who the little twat is, post his info on the board...i'd like to have a short conversation with him...

One was a redhead and the other was half asian half white. The redhead was a student at auburn and the other one was a local nurse. They knew each other too. It was like an episode of elimidate before the final cut. Rather than fight over me, they shared. ahh memories
