They didn't break up. Veland left the band, but Tristania released another album after his departure. They are actually working on a new album, I guess.
Veland formed a new band called Sirenia and released an album last year, called At Sixes And Sevens, which is a very decent Goth Metal album.

Anyway, Widow's Weed is the best Goth Metal album ever, IMO!
