yeah, he should've gone with his normal vocal approach instead. there's some good parts on that album, some mediocre, some bad and some really cringe worthy, like this part in a shade of plague:

"You are burned by the fire of his flame
Trapped in the filth and all the fucking shame

Pushed down by disgust and desire
Numbing the wounds with other wounds"

sounds like some really boring metalcore band

the rest of the song is good though

So far I'd say I like the album. The occasional Opeth influence comes through pretty strong, but overall I'm enjoying it, worth the buy. The lyrics are indeed a bit cringe worthy at times, I've never been a huge fan of personal lyrics. However if it's cryptic enough at least you can interpret them your own way.

Major Edit: Shit, that's one of the reasons I originally steered clear of -core music way back when I was a metal n00b. The lyrics are downright embarassing, I'd hate to think of recording lyrics about a specific person out of spite, then later regret after I got over it. That and the fact the god damn music all sounds the same, it's like everyone is TRYING to copy each other.
