NS-10M issue

One of the tweeters in my NS-10's has stopped working, just completely dead... no issues with the woofer.

I put multimeter across the tweeter am seeing resistance... which to my (limited) knowledge says the tweeter itself might not be shot? I am kind of hoping for this as the damn things are over $100 each. Does this sound like an issue that a crapped out crossover could cause?

Any info would be great as I would like to get mixing again soon.

Cheers,

J

It could be the tweeter or the crossover but those tweeters blow all of the time if you aren't careful (or do the fuse mod). How much resistance are you reading with your meter? You'll never get 8ohms (or whatever it's rated at) b/c that's generally measure at a given frequency but you should be within 3 or 4 ohms of spec.

if you can get to the wire leads going to the tweeter, take a 9v and attach the + to + and - to - and if you get a pop your tweeter is not fried

I am seeing 4.5 ohms out of the tweeter. So it looks like maybe the speaker is fine? I will focus on the crossover at this point.

Thanks for the input guys!
