...but they just beat our asses soooo much in the ice-hockey championship! You guys better be glad ice hockey doesn't really do anything for me. :hotjump:
Dany Heatley is the future of hockey. But he really needs someone to explain the benefits of a visit to the dentist to him (for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, he misses 2-3 front teeth.)
I totally agree with the Hasek remark. I think they shouldn't have pulled their first string goalie during that game as well, although it changed the momentum for a while in the Czech's favour. Canada proved that heart and determination can win over teams with more NHL stars. Even though I'm from Canada, and they won (which rules ) , I still think the World's are not a true indication of the best in the world. Be it Canada, Sweden, the Czech's etc., noone had all of their best out there due to the playoffs.
It was a great game! it does not matter if the teams did not have all their best players...its all about team play and clicking as a team in a 3 week time period.
look at russia a couple of years ago when the tournament was held in russia...they had all the top players, and they got bounced early. look at the nhl playoffs...its all about team play and systems.
no doubt hasek was the best ever. all the rest of the great goaltenders...Roy, Plante, Sawchuck, etc...had great numbers with the help of great teams in front of them. Hasek won 6 vezinas and 2 MVPs with an above average at best team in front of him. Pisses me off though how he wants to go into the hall of fame as a Red Wing. Fuck that.....he is a Sabre forever.
So you think that the Canadian team that won gold at the 2002 Winter Olympics would lose to the team that won the 2003 World's. You gotta be kidding me. You are right that hockey is about chemistry and good team play, but everyone knows the Olympics are the real deal not the World Championship tourney! Would you say that the game is about
systems and chemistry if Canada lost to Sweden?
all im saying is any team, and i mean any team can beat any team on any given day. just because canada won that game and the championship does not necessarily mean they were the best team in the tournament...
the canada/sweden game was close...it was just a matter of a lucky bounce...could have gone either way...
...and yes canada's olympic team could have lost to any of these teams in the world championships.
