So seeing as these are the forums for Anthrax, I think it is probably pretty safe to assume that we are all metal fans here. What other kind of music are you into… or more particularly what else are you into that you would normally not want to admit to?

That is to say what is your musical guilty pleasure?

Me while I will always be a metal head at heart I like country music, though I wouldn’t call it a “guilty pleasure” as I am proud to admit that I like it. I hated the stuff when I was younger, but thanks to going to Pantera shows and them always playing David Allen Coe just before they went on stage I developed a love for the stuff. And with guys like Dale Watson, Hank III and Scott H. Biram out there country is actually pretty cool.

So my guilty pleasure would have to be the Grateful Dead. I’m no hippy and would never have gone to a show, but its great music to sit back, relax and enjoy a cold beer, or a toke too.

What about the rest of you? What’s your “guilty pleasure?”

One of my fave records of all time is Natalie Imbruglia's "White Lillies Island".

It's straight up pop, but music played by a real rock band, and the song-writing and performances are great. And she's hot too, so that helps!

wow thats pretty brave haha, not so much now but i used to really dig shania twain and dixie chicks cds,i'm a big fan of david allan coe thanks to pantera,at the moment im really digging taylor swift, especially the crossroads dvd she does with def leppard, she has some killer songs and has great personality:p

DURAN DURAN..
I'm a fan..yes..and i'm not ashamed bout it!!
Their latest album, ALL YOU NEED IS NOW is the greatest thing a pop band could have ever release...ever!!

I don't really find a reason to be too guilty about the non-metal I enjoy. Soundtracks, old (pre-90s) country, 80s music, celtic, etc.

My wife got me into both Ween and Me First & The Gimme Gimmes. Both bands rule.

Ween. Used to love them. I had the album with 'Chocolate' (???) in the title.

Nice cover too from memory!

I have a channel on Pandora (Streaming music service) that is nothing but solo piano playing. Its nice to fall asleep to or while I am doing school work. My other Pandora channel is my collection of Power Metal.

I know lots of you guys are sick of hearing that kind of stuff since you've had it since the 80's but here in the states that stuff was nearly impossible to find unless you knew some little rinky dink independent record store.

And my guilty pleasure is Power Metal. :D

i like all different kinds of music and i'm not ashamed of it. the most beautiful pieces of music i can think of are 'river flows in you' by corean composer YIRUMA and 'i giorni' by Ludovico Einaudi, a heart-touching piano melody and nothing else. i like to listen to 'river flows in you' on my 1/2 hour drive to work in repeat-mode, i can listen to this song forever.

As a musician I listen to all kinds of music. Basically, if I dig, I dig it. It doesn't matter what genre it is. Some of my favorite artists that are not heavy would be. The Cure, Lady Gaga, Faunts, Skinny Puppy, Def Leppard, Katie Perry, Frank Turner, U2, Dido, Sly and the Family Stone, Earth Wind and Fire, M.I.A., Etc...

No reason to feel guilty, music is meant to be enjoyed, not caged into genres.

Exactly!

Mine is (90's) Bon Jovi. I can't help it, I love that music! "Guilty pleasure" as in I wouldn't wear a JBJ shirt in public. Other than that I'm totally comfortable with my musical tastes. Brian Setzer, Garbage, Strapping Young Lad,...all different but I love them all.

I love me some 80's hair metal/glam. I also love blues. Not the least bit ashamed of either. I've always felt that if you are embarrassed by the music you listen to, you probably shouldn't be listening to it.

To me, their 80's albums were more consistent, but they've always had a couple of song per each album that I really liked since.:Spin:

I think These Days is by far their most consistent album. I can't praise that album enough, every song is a winner and I really like the dark vibe on it.

I was at Bon Jovi show in Germany two months ago. They kicked ass.

I saw them too this June, and I gotta say that the show was really good, much better than I expected after how boring it was the last time.

At the moment I'm really enjoying the recent releases by Sleeping at Last. They've released a three song EP every month since october last year. The final EP is released next month. The series is called Yearbook.

I don't consider it a quilty pleasure though.
It's lovely, mellow music.
