We arrived in Troy NY at the Hudson Duster around 7:10, and the first thing I see is this HUGE guy smoking outside, and he gave me a look like "Who the fuck is this kid." I get inside, and I walk up to the owner, and I go "Hi, we are Amalgama" and he goes "Yeah? So what" That was the moment where I went "oh shit..." He then laughed and said he was joking and welcomed us. We loaded our shit up on stage, which was elevated above the crowd about 10 feet. We set up our shit, and did a quick soundcheck.
I was nervous as fuck on the way to the show, but as soon as I got on stage, I definetly felt much more confident. We finished sound checking, and we went down and waited for the show to start. The owner, also the guitarist for local band Brick by Brick, came up and asked us "Are you psyched?" Of course we were, but I was getting antsy again to just play and get it over with.
So around 9:25, we were told to get up on stage by Ralph, vocalist for Last Call, and also the guy who set us up with the show. We went up there, introduced ourselves, and went right into our first original song.
The set list was:
Skeletons of Thrash (original)
Master/No Remorse
Ignorance is Death (original)
Mindwar
The Clock Strikes (original)
Afterwards, we got a lot of positive comments and such, and just a couple critiques on certain things. Overall, it was a really positive experience for our first show. The whole thing was video taped, so I get to go back and watch it and make notes on what to improve and such. This show is going to be snowballed into more and more shows, and we should make a name for ourselves in Albany
