Does anyone collect vinyl? I just got a new belt for my turn table (man, that was a bitch to track down) and I am stoked. I have a Technics and they just don't make belt-driven stuff any more (which is my preference). I haven't been able to play my records for months.
My collection started when I inherited my uncle's collection, so most the stuff I got is from the 60's and 70's and right now I have about 300 records. I've got all of Zeppelin's, all of Pink Floyd's up to the Final Cut, a lot of Alice Cooper, The Who, The Stones, George Carlin, The Allman Bros., Humble Pie, Queen, The Beatles, Black Sabbath, and a ton of Frank Sinatra. Most the stuff I added was 80's punk like Black Flag, The Dead Kennedy's, The Misfits, Flipper, The UK Subs, The Clash and whatnot.
I've been listening to my records all morning, even though it's beautiful outside. Soon enough, my buddies will arrive and I will be playing golf, but for now, I'm being nostalgic....

I have hundreds of records. I love 'em. KISS- I have everything up thru You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best on vinyl. Zeppelin, Sabbath, Queen, Alice Cooper, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, the Ramones, Dead Kennedys, well you get the point. I still bought vinyl up until it became pretty well extinct. i still buy new releases on vinyl if I find them. Pearl Jam, Korn, Rage Against the Machine, Bad Religion, and even Slayer have been good about getting new releases out on vinyl. There is nothing like the sound of the needle popping.

I'm hip. There's a place here in Oxford called Looney T-Birds which has an excellent selection of vinyl. They always get new releases as there are a lot of vinyl-friendly bands out there. The local radio station, 97X (Bamm! The future of rock and roll) has an all-vinyl show on Wednesdays.
The only KISS I have on vinyl is Rock and Roll Over....

I have my sister's old Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix vinyl that she bought new in the 70s and 80s, but I don't have anything to play them on. You can find a lot at thrift stores too. My friend went through this bell bottom phase in high school, and I'd wander around trying hard not to be seen with her, and I stumbled on a shitload of Beatles, and other assorted good finds.

Man, my music collection started with Vinyl. I had a bunch of crap though. I kept my turntable luckily. My older brother has the best collection though....he's got all the Rush albums, Black Sabbath, Led Zepplin, ZZ Top, Yes, Montrose and tons more.
