Yeah still not sure what your actual role is in this, can you clear that up ?
Oh and dont get cocky with a all-above-slate attitude.. you sure have used your share of them in your time.
I don't get cocky homie.. No desire for that. Just stating that both the band and Machine, and myself are very happy with the sounds we've gotten from meticulous micing.
My role in this album is Engineering. Not sure about mixing 100%. He's allowing me to mix as I go, and who knows after that..

If you're not necessarily mixing, I'm not sure if "engineering" is the correct term (I would say "tracking") - and I make no apologies for my very warranted skepticism, but I also want to genuinely congratulate you on such an awesome opportunity

It's perfectly correct, he's the recording engineer on the album, sometimes credited as only "engineering" along with "mixing" and "mastering" credits.

and "engineer" credit has always basically been a credit for tracking an album. And "mixing" credit is what you get when you mix. I'd say he absolutely is the engineer on the album.

+1... Check your CD collection Marcus, "Engineered by...", "Mixed by..." will show up on a lot of them.

Ok if this thread is going to turn into another debate, then I'm going to ask that it be removed. Either that or I'll just stop replying on this specific thread.
My intent was NOTHING to do with a spotlight thing.. I just know that people are VERY fond of machine shop.. I will not get into too much detail about certain things, because that's the fun of this whole producing thing, but I'll certainly post some more pics of mic setups and such if y'all stop being such party shitters.

For what it's worth, I was on Skype with Nick for an hour and a half helping him get properly set up over there on the old PPC Mac system he's using in the tracking room. It would really surprise me if he was only pretending to follow my instructions.
