Official RC Snobby Beer Purchases Thread

Im strictly only speaking for the shit I see on that list. If you want any other recommendations on certain styles etc...just ask bitch.

Belgium
Rochefort 10 (perhaps the best beer in the entire universe - especially if aged, and done correctly)
Gouden Carolus (like drinking ripe fruits from a goblet - insanely heavy yet heavenly) (their tripel is good too)
Chimay Blue
Orval (one of the most unique beers out there and def a twist on the trappists - if you dont like brettomyces, stay away)
Houblon Chouffe Double IPA (you can shave your beard with the head on this)

...i just noticed that you got your lists from "ratebeer", so I quit.

Right, so Rate Beer sucks...

Do you think Beer Advocate is good on their reviews?

I just want a wide selection of beers to look for or buy.

if u tell me what u can get, i can advise. theres just so much.

for now, if i were u, i would stay away from the lambics, and especially the geuzes.

edit: also, you can go by my own reviews of certain shit, even though thats like 5% of what I have had. But its a tool...as well as everyone elses.

I've just had so many okay to good Ales in pubs, but I have no idea which ones are good, so I think I'm just going to print off the top 10-20 beers on beer advocate of a certain style and see if I can find them.

The store I go to has hundreds of beers and changes out every week, and their site has tons of broken links, so you can't tell what they carry.

Mönchshof Schwarzbier
Neumarkter Lammsbräu Weisse
Trappistes Rochefort 10
Entire Butt English Porter
Anchor Porter
Fraoch Heather Ale
BrewDog Punk IPA
BrewDog RIP Tide Twisted Merciless Stout

Seems like a pretty decent haul before trying any of them, after looking at BA

Eh I'm done with snobby beer purchases for the time being. When the mood arises I'm simply going to pick up a 6 pack of Hoegaarden. Fuck the accolades that come with being a beer snob, $8.99 Buddhas. Purchasing expensive beer is beginning to become as rational as refinancing your home in order to afford installing a backyard waterfall.

The thrill of chucking out a few extra bucks to taste this complex/weird beer makes me keep coming back. Plus reading on it makes me want to spend loads of money on it

Whenever I visit a site like BA I'm reminded that there are more weird beers out there than obscure basement black metal projects.

I have the following in my fridge and/or cupboard right now:

Deschutes Obsidian Stout (was my #1 for years, now not so much)
Samuel Smith Imperial Stout (one of the best beers ever)
some Pacifichodes :tickled:
Stone Double Bastard
Rogue Shakespeare Stout
Unibroue Trois Pistoles
New Belgium Fat Tire

Been cold down souf for weeks, matey!

Thankfully, I was getting so pissed off at summer (which didn't end until late November), but it's been in the 30s at night for 2 weeks. I hope it lasts. It won't.
