Official RC Snobby Beer Purchases Thread

I need to develop a script to do it for me. Feel free to lend your expertise in this matter.

All I know is that I had a sip of Allagash Black last week and I pang to have it off tap.

Coastal Fog Amber Ale is the new sud which is taking pallets by storm (level 1). A very medium bodied ale, with little head, and a subtle hoppy flavor. It oddly enough makes me reminisce of DFH90, as it tastes like a watered down version of it. The selling point for this brew is not the quality, as it really is mediocre at best, but the price. I picked up a twelve pack of this respectable offering for under $10 last week. I'm about to make another beeline to Bevmo, (it's apparently their in-house brew), and see if I can score another slickdeal on this refreshing elixir. Tonight we tip our glasses to parsimony!

Sweet, holy shit! I found Dead Guy Ale. I immediately bought all 4 bottles they had without concern for the price.

I've lost all concept of value. $4.38 for a regular sized bottle of beer? Fuck it. It was worth it.

For the past couple months, I have only been drinking once/week and only a few beers when I do. My pallete is changing or something. I had to choke down a Hop Rod Rye a few weeks back, and now I am facing the second half of a bomber of Yulesmith Summer and want to pour it down the drain. These are two of my all time favorite beers!!!! Maybe it's just IIPA's...I'm gonna try some roasty goodness and see what happens.

I have actually had the same problem for a bit. I had a hard time drinking anything high abv because it just seemed so over the top. It was weird; I think it had something to do with all the bourbon I was drinking.

Yep. I didnt enjoy my Old Rasputin at all either. But I rather enjoyed Sam Adams Boston Lager at my fathers and Brew Free Or Die IPA and fucking salivated over Mayflower IPA on tap. The extreme beers, with a few exceptions are starting to fail on my pallete. I'll take finesse and subtlety over extreme and over-the-top at every chance these days. Not to mention sessionablility.

On the other hand, I will take a great bourbon over mostly any beer nowadays as well...unless I'm at a cookout in 90degree weather of course.

edit: another thing to note is that although this has been slowly progressing over the past couple years, it has REALLY started this past 5 or so weeks that I have been on a pseudo-ketogenic diet. My pallete doesn't get too much exposure to extreme flavors in any direction so it is definitely more of a shock lately when I take on a hugely bitter beer or w/e.
