Official RC Snobby Beer Purchases Thread

I really can't get much from there. Just very big ones and Smuttynose. We get things like Dark Horse too.

Yep. Way overhyped but if fresh, definitely a fantastic beer and used to be an excellent value. Not sure what they're gonna try to fetch for it this year. I think I remember the price going up last year.

just racked my "Big Johnson's Honey-Red Ale" into the secondary fermentation carboy. one step closer... in about a month i'll have one shitload of beer.

I was going to start with an extract brew, but I watched a video on all-grain brewing, and it seems pretty simple... You just put the grain in the mash tun with the hot water and then mash/stir it up then transfer the liquid to the brew kettle, yes?

If thats the case, then I'll probably just go all-grain from the get-go.

I don't ever secondary, I find it kind of a waste of time. What you can do is just wait about a month or so in the primary and then bottle (or keg) from there.

There is a lot more over site in putting together an all grain batch, like being able to cool it fast enough, hitting your proper temperatures and exactly how to sparge. Best thing is to have some one that knows all grain to show you. It seems easy, then it gets confusing. I'd still recommend doing extract first mainly because of expenses to get started.

Eh, sort of disagree. Whatever works for you is what you should do, though. I prefer to secondary for a couple of obvious reasons. I like to get most of the yeast sediment out of there, which in turn gets ride of the bite. I've done a long primary fermentation before and I feel like it's necessary to let the flavors come together afterward.

Powerful hoppiness is something I really have to get over if I want to be able to enjoy a lot of the beers Peters drinks. There was that one I brought to HC3 that I forget the name of but I'm almost glad everyone else drank it, it wasn't enjoyable at all. Might have been a bit warm though.
