Official RC Snobby Beer Purchases Thread

Just noticed a new offering by Victory....Headwaters Pale Ale. It's super fresh and fucking dayum good. One of the better PA's Ive had in a long while. The hops are wonderful in here. So quaffable.

The place I got my growler of NN is pouring Headwaters as well. Maybe I'll get a growler of that when I'm done with this, which will be imminently.

Yeah, moreso than NN, at least in growler terms since it's so drinkable and lower ABV. Completely different beers though, obviously.

NN, imo, is one of the most over-hyped beers though. It's a solid beer but not worthy of it's BA rating or it's recently inflated pricetag due to the hype/supply:demand.

I typically like my PA's more earthy but it's a solid offering. Very crisp, lager-like in respect, the hops provide great flavor with good subtle grassy, floral and citrus notes without much bitterness.

Nugget Nectar...what a letdown. It doesn't seem as good as years past, although not much does nowadays for some reason. Probably me.

Anyhow, yeah...not bad or anything but nothing spectacular or worth anywhere near what they charge for it these days.

I've been slowly losing faith in the craft industry and getting jaded. It's become so trendy, cliche, overpriced, and watered down as opposed to how it was 4+ years ago. I'm gonna start going back to the Sam Adams/Smuttynose cases on the cheap and grab the occasional proven greats from Founders, Stone, etc. Hopefully things will change and the pendulum will swing back the other way.

I agree that certain beers (PtE/Y, Hopslam, Nugget Nectar, etc) have been overhyped (though they are all awesome beers) and as such overpriced, but I think as a whole the scene is still fairly healthy.

Okay, I might have to get in on this home brewing thing. How hard is it to brew something in the stout/porter range?

I'm getting so fucking sick of the lack of variety here. I need some porters or pale ales or fucking something.

I like my beer to be dark and deep, completely unlike my women.

speaking of deep ... are Asian chicks philosophical? can you have some all night whacked out conversations with them? I know a few but none are like that.

back to beer ... bought LA PLAYA from Trader Joe's ... it's like a 1/2 price Corona, hence total shite ... but refreshing.

I'm just talking about something darker, I suppose. I like my beer to be dark and deep, completely unlike my women.

yeah, that won't be very hard. Buy a bucket and a kettle (that will hold about 5 gallons), and then you can buy kits with the recipes already set up for you. It'll take 4 hours that day to brew, then 2-3 weeks of fermenting, then 2 weeks to carbonate in bottles. The trick is to have a place around 65F to ferment.

i helped a coworker by fixing her computer and today she bought me ten beers as thanx, two each of these:

the lesson here is sometimes its worth helping folks

doesn't this work for anything anyone was into 4 years ago though
