Oh my God I'm OOOOOLD!!!

...despite everyone here complaining ;) about remembering captain kangaroo and playing pong....those were the best years...sigh..............

...then again, all the gray hairs on king lek's chin are a gift from me that keeps on giving...i am proud of each and every one i caused... ;)

I just plucked a long gray hair from my EAR.

That's it, where's my wheelchair? With Manticora rims and a Marshall cab rigged to the back?

Better than plucking them out of elsewhere! :ill:

I refuse to believe that I'm old, no matter what the numbers say. Or the grey eyebrows that I keep plucking. I don't mind so much the grey on my head - it's not THAT obvious (to me, at any rate). And yes, I remember life without microwaves and cell phones, and dialing a phone was really what you did. And I fondly recall our first vcr, which was a top-loader. And RECORDS. You know, those vinyl things that have grooves and covers where you can actually see the artwork.

That's officially "OLD" - Yep, I'm in the same boat too! I always say my mental age remains somewhere between 6 & 90, but I'm physically 43....

Thank you all for this thread depressing the hell out of me! ;)

Yes, I recall blck and white TVs with 7 channels, clickers that changed the channel by spinning the dial, MTV starting up and <gasp> playing music videos, Atari being a great home gaming console, etc . . .

I'm going grey now, but since I've been 17 years old I've been saying that I don't care what color my hair turns, so long as it stays in my head!

Steve in Philly

I got my first grey hair around 18-19, pretty much salt /peeper grey now.
Maybe I'll color it this year? Color suggestions anyone???

How about remembering watching Neil Armstrong walking on the moon?

I was 5 when that happened, and I still remember watching it on our "giant" console TV that had NO remote. You had to get up off your ass and chance channels AND fine tune them in.....

PONG bitches...haha!

C100_small.jpg

I played pong, but my first console was the atari 2600.

How about remembering Sputnik, now that is old.

Shit John, I'm not THAT old! ;) :p

I don't have 1/3 gray and I don't remember when Capt. Kangaroo was new, but I do remember waatching t as a little kid. All the rest on your list... yes, I remember! But 38 isn't old, damn it! At least not for me! :kickass::kickass:

You youngsters are really starting to piss me off!

I got three words for you people...

EIGHT TRACK TAPES.

yes, I remember listening to 38-Special, The Eagles, Bob Seger, Billy Joel, and many others in the late 70's and 1980-82 on my dad's 8-track tape player(s). My cousin had AC/DC, Van Halen, REO Speedwagon, ELO, and others where I discovered many hard rock artists. From there it was a downhill slide into metal with cassettes and albums (yes, Alicia - I remember 'vinyl' and still own about 75 albums). :heh:

I still have my Foghat - Live & Eagles - Hotel California 8-Tracks!
(but nothing to play them on!)

The first time I heard Van Halen's debut, was on a friend's sister's 8-Track

(oh, and I have plenty of vinyl laying around too! Not nearly the amount I used to, but at least 2 Napa Valley crates came with me to Cheeseland)

So since last Saturday? :p:p:p :tickled: :tickled:

Bryan, if you're old, then I'm old too.. and I don't wanna be old yet, so you ain't old either... kapeesh?!

......then again, I remember rotary phones and pre-cell life! AND I can't grow a goatee!! :hypno::hypno::hypno: I'M DOOOMED! :erk:

Yeah, cause you're OLD  you might look really hot in a goatee...:zombie::rock:

Ahhh, 8-track tapes. 4 audio segments and then a fadeout or pause, *ker-chunk!* and then the next one would start. And they were ENDLESS! They never stopped!

My first, last and only 8-track tape was Boston's debut album. There are worse albums to listen to allll the time in your car. Then I got an adapter so I could play cassettes early on...and it tended to slooooow dowwwwwn a bit while it was playing, promptly driving me and my passengers crazy. "Make it stop!"

I'm 43, but I refuse to grow the hell up!

45 rpm singles. One good song and a B-side. Double cola, Atlanta Music Festival, Woodstock,, Grant Park concerts, Concerts at the Fox theater, Callaway Gardens in the Summer, Panama City, Rebecca Sherrill(my college girlfriend who still lives in Atlanta), HYDRA, THE BUSHMEN, MOTION, 5th ORDER, HAMPTON"S GREASE BAND, Oh the memories.

Better than plucking them out of elsewhere! :ill:

And I still remember when gasoline was 79 cents a gallon.

Pshaw. I bought gas for 79 cents a gallon back in 1998. I remember 'cuz it was just before the first time I went to Sweden.

As for Captain Kangaroo, microwaves, etc... I remember all that shit, leaded gas, AND BetaMax VCRs. And I'm not yet 34, so I KNOW I'm not old (maybe I just have a good memory??). Neither are ya'll... haven't you read KittyBeast's signature???

I can remember 29 cents a gallon, and one year we went to Daytona and our hotel room(which was on the beach, and about 200 yds from the pier and boardwalk) for 2 weeks cost us $200 for the total time. Shaye your still 1 year younger than my oldest son hehehehehe.
