I'm sure this has been discussed before but what the hell......

Bare trees. Morning fog. Semi-darkness. Deserted buildings. Leafy paths. The smell of a fire burning in the woods.

To me, Opeth and Autumn make the perfect match.

Does anyone else have their own perfect Opeth 'season'? I particularly like Patterns In The Ivy II and Still Day in the summer though....

Keith.

I think listening to Opeth during the winter is my favorite, I've had some pretty good memories during then and listening to them.

Definetely Autumn for me, leaves are just starting to fall where i live, and it is just great, my favorite time of year!!

for me its winter, cause its the closest thing to a "real" Autumn.. (living in the ME sucks :\ )

Autumn and winter, no doubt.

I remember last winter I was waiting for the bus, at the town where I went to school. It was freezing cold and there was very few people on the streets. I didn't catch the first bus, so I had to wait for like 45 minutes or something. So I had nothing better to do than just walking around on my own in the freezing cold, empty streets listening to Blackwater Park. I'm not sure I ever enjoyed it as much as that day.

from BWP maybe patterns in the ivy 2 and still day beneath the sun have a summer feeling
can you say that about the Drapery falls or Harvest ?

I certainly know where you're coming from. All the trains on my way home yesterday were totally screwed up and it was getting dark as I was on a smelly old bus trying to get home in time to meet my friends out again. I put on Damnation and it thoroughly depressed me. In this case it's a good thing for the music.

For me each album has a different season:

Orchid = Fall
Morningrise = Spring
My Arms Your Hearse = All four, for obvious reasons
Still Life = Summer
Blackwater Park = Winter
Deliverance/Damnation = Winter as well
Ghost Reveries = Fall

In truth, Opeth's music has always seemed cold to me though, so I think their best stuff fits into the Fall/Winter time frame.

Peace

Rorix

hmm... Helloween, Gamma Ray at Summer. Opeth, Katatonia, Mostly Autumn at autumn. Immortal, Comus and all the black metal at winter;)

Immortal is very, very, very, winter music! and Opeth is autumn music from my point of view.

I think winter for Opeth. I would love to just grab a 6 pack of Sam Adams Winter Lager and go out in the woods and sit in the snow and listen to it...too bad I live in Florida.

I hardly listen to Opeth during the summer. But during Autumn and winter I hardly listen to anything else. A cold, dark november or december morning on my way to school is probably the best time to listen to Opeth, especially Blackwater Park.

Yeah, of course the lyrics tell something different but I definitely associate the music with late summer :erk:

personally i´ve never connected opeth with snow, more like rain so;Autumn

Another interesting topic would be what records you connect with nature or city. I´ve seen mike being asked this question in an interview too.
The four first are nature records for me, while bwp, deliverance and damnation are city records, i dont know why but i get this kind of nightime citylight feeling from them. With GR it went back to nature again

yes this has been discussed hundreds of times. perhaps u could search and give an old topic new life.
