well today is the Salonica show and tomorrow they play in Athens. I'll go to the second one. it's been 2 years since they last visited us and it's the first date for europe this year, so, let's see what they've got for us.

i hope the setlist will be a little bit different than what they did at their last shows in the u.s. :D

so..
about 3 hours to go for salonica. :)

the show in Salonica is over.

here's the playlist:

1) Ghost Of Perdition
2)White Cluster
3)The Amen Corner
4)Baying Of The Hounds
5)Closure
6)Under The Weeping Moon
7)The Grand Conjuration
8)The Drapery Falls.

9)Deliverance.

not bad :D

oh
too short :erk:
i think it should be 12 songs..

it's 1,5 hour. that's how they play every time.

and I like the setlist. we'll get to hear Amen Corner for the first time (at least if that doesn't change on tomorrow's setlist). I would like something from morningrise too, though. say, like Advent :)

I don't think we can even hope for a two hour show. They didn't do it before; now that they have a gig every day (immediately after greece comes turkey, and then israel if I remember it correctly) i don't think it's possible.

however, if I were to have a wish, I'd like to get a 'chronology' show. :heh:
lucky new york

I thought they'd do Turkish and Greek crowd a favour and change the setlist.. however i am sure many people will be pleased with this current set list

well. here i am back from the concert and the bar :D

the setlist was identical to the one they played in Salonica.
they were quite strong. they gave us an amazing evening.

highlights:

the rendition of Closure; it was awesome. you think 'ok, that's the mellow song, let's take a break...and then at the end they're just killing. they played really strong, it was definitely a headbanger :D

Mike's lines. well he's become quite an entertainer on stage :). I remember the first time i saw them (2002); he would hardly speak, a few words and almost whispering. And now seeing him having become this big confident frontman. I liked it.

the entirely new face was Axenrot. he was good. he seemed to enjoy it. it's good to see the drummer bringing it all out, almost smashing the drums (not that i don't like Lopez's style :P, the man is extraordinary).

deliverance is a great closer. it's a worthy successor of Demon.

i hope next time's soon. it's good seeing them on stage. and it's getting better every time.

PS: when the amen corner was coming to its end, i reaaaaally really hoped they'd go on and play demon of the fall :D

I'm really happy I could accomodate the gig into my Athens trip :)
Club 22 was pretty crowded and people were headbanging even at the back. Must admit Greek people seemed a lot more enthusiastic than my fellow Hungarians...
It's always a pleasure to see Opeth on stage, they seem to enjoy what they are doing and that adds to the atmosphere provided by the music :)

I hope someone will post pictures of the gig, I didn't take my camera.
