You guys are acting as if this is threatening Opeths originallity and credability, and you need to defend you favorite band. Its just a fun fact that the same arrangement is found in these two very different compositions. And yes, it is a random 4-note metal riff. But still. And Abbath's GRUNT is indeed priceless

Actually, the tempo is the biggest difference between the two riffs. The notes and the arrangement of them is nearly identical otherwise. But as Arasmas said, it is only four notes, and to come up with a brand-new way of sequencing them....

How about Insomnium - Last statement () and Demon of the fall then? Opeth was first on this one, but if you listen to DotF 2:10-3:00 and the start of the insomnium vid, its not 100%, but I can't listen to that song without thinking of DotF
