Opeth: New album, new song !

It's been a good 2 days so far. Yesterday I heard previews from the Evile album, plus the new Mastodon song. However, today I'm greeted by news of a new song by my favorite band of all time:

There you go, sounds really proggy and old-school. The new album won't have any growls, however, I'm totally digging this new direction

Its really different, but in the best way.
I reall like the drum sound. It seems really raw to me? Also it's like funky swedish lounge music halfway through ^^

I've been really into 70's prog stuff for a while now, so this is really something I'm looking forward to.

And Axe is one killer drummer !

Shit guitar tone, recycled vocal lines, the multiple changeups are gone, no death growls, weak guitar solo and dumb lyrics. It's like the skeleton of Opeth with no meat on the bones.

I feel like I have already heard this material before, and it seems Akerfeldt has finally run out of ideas. I am sure tho the mainstream pop audience will enjoy this Opeth more than the classic Opeth.

I actually agree with him. That said, I always thought Opeth were a bunch of a fucknuts anyway.

I did like Damnation. I don't like when bands betray what they built upon for something of shittier quality.

I listened to the first few tracks and I can say it's real mellow, dreary, sleepy, and soft. The guitar tone is full on blues tone, sounds shitty as hell. So far it's like a cousin of Damnation.

I like it. I can't wait to actually own it so I can listen to the individual tracks.
