What kind of metalheads do you hang around with???

Arch Enemy blows goat ass...

lol the kind that think Nile, Origin, Suffocation, Hate Eternal, God Dethroned, Decapitated, and Krisiun are the end all and be all of brutal death metal. They arent into anything with melody, or songwriting, it just has to be fassssssssssssssssstttttttt and brutal, with no melody. Evrey Opeth fan i know, doesnt even listen to death metal.

Right...no songwriting...

I don't know how you can sum up an entire genre of music as having no songwriting, fucking hell, I always considered Nile to one of greatest bands around for writing amazing EPIC songs (Ramses Bringer Of War, Unas Slayer Of Gods). Thats my opinion.

Evrey Opeth fan i know, doesnt even listen to death metal.

If you ask everyone on this forum if they like death metal, I would say the majority of them will say yes.

How do I know this? Look at ho many people responded to the Nile threads saying how much they liked Nile and even discussed other death metal bands.

I would see Hate Eternal again just to watch Derek Roddy play drums. He is a bad ass. And Arch Enemy doesn't blow. The Amott brothers are amazing guitarists. I guess if your'e not into the more melodic playing they wouldn't appeal, but they by no means "blow".

I would rather see someone like Lacuna Coil with Opeth... but as long as Opeth are there I don't really care.

If Nile do play...

...watching Opeth after them will be a chillout session compared to the intensity of a Nile show.

But of course Opeth will be better. At leat ill have more of an excuse to just stand there in awe as opposed to banging my head furiously if im after seeing Nile *sore neck inevitable*

i wont speak for the other bands, but Nile oozes melody. One of the reasons I like them so much is that they do interesting melodies... multitude of foes, wind of horus, smashing the antiu, barra edinazzu. And its not just the slow breakdown parts-- their fast riffs are (usually) extremely epic and beautiful.

Thats not opinion either. Its fact-- nile are very melodious for a death metal band

*CLAP* *CLAP* I totally agree, Nile do have a lot of melody.

Thorns, what the Hell are you on about? There are loads of Death Metal bands that have fantastic songwriting. Nile are definately one of them!

I recently saw Decapitated open for Opeth in London, and I've got to say I thought they were a great support band.

ummmm i was talking about the people I know, and occasionally hang out with, not myself, I love brutal death metal. I was just saying the people I know who listen to brutal death metal dont like Opeth, and the only Opeth fans I do know IN PERSON. I KNOW there are plenty Opeth fans that love brutal death, if you would have read my initial post carefully, I said "IN PERSON" that I know personally, arent into death metal at all. Btw, I know Nile has loads of melody, and I know they stand out of the crowd in the brutal death scene, I was just running off the bands my friends are into. Im not ragging on Nile in the least, they are one of my favorite bands, but I would never want to see them play with Opeth, two different beasts that deserve two different atmospheres, and environments.
